Author Topic: Cube 2: Sauerbraten | old school fps, game engine  (Read 2478 times)

What is it?

Cube 2: Sauerbraten is a free multiplayer & singleplayer first person shooter, the successor of the Cube FPS.

Much like the original Cube, the aim of this game is fun, old school deathmatch gameplay and also to allow map/geometry editing to be done cooperatively in-game.

something about that engine looks really pretty to me

This 100%

This 100%
i think it has something to do with how most stone surfaces and walls have a glossy, reflective look, almost like they're covered in water. the whole rocks and water layout gives a really nice atmosphere with that engine

nice
just google it, boyo.

tesseract, a fork of this, has neat dynamic lighting
but the map editing in either one of them is just super

on the website for tesseract the main download is really out of date, from like may 2014
some of the code in the SVN repo has been edited more recently but even the latest of that is from may of this year
so it's probably semi-abandoned. still a lot of fun though

well not really but there's a server called pastaland that hosts insta ctf 24/7
it gets around 11-15 players

Sauerbraten sounds delicious.

I just play the instagib servers really.

reminds me of the concept behind Tesseract. Interesting.
