Author Topic: Why doesn't blockland run too well on Nvidia graphics cards?  (Read 1050 times)

This game is supposed to be optimized for them, but apparently AMD cards are way faster in terms of Blockland. I use a GTX 1060 with a Core i5 6600k and there are times where the framerate goes below 60, especially when I try to use max soft shaders or if there is a very high brickcount (which the GPU should handle easily). Is there some thing where even older AMD cards like the R9 290 can beat a new card like the GTX 1060 in Blockland performance? Just wondering.

I haven't seen issues except with MASSIVE amounts of bricks... So I don't really know.

It's like putting an elephant in the back of a pickup truck and wondering why it doesn't go up steep hills anymore.

The default shaders are optimized for Nvidia, not the third party soft shaders.

blockland runs perfectly on my nvidia card and on my friend's nvidia card. also ran fine on my previous computer, which also used an nvidia card. your issue is probably with the special shaders you're using.

What are you talking about? The 1060 is in no way an insane card, neither is the 290.

There's your problem lol

Unless if you're a graphics over gameplay nut, you can disable soft shaders and get better performance. It ain't the end of the world

the newest version of soft shadows is actually reasonably fast (and can probably be a bit faster), it just suffers from artifacts (peter panning or shadow acne depending on the threshold)
