It's a deep personal issue for me, as my best friend lives in Sweden and his sister has been in some trouble.
Australia has long since been having debates about immigration. In all respects I am a Green/Liberal person, but on Immigration I stand on a more Conservative side; borders need to be tough to get through in order to prevent clashes in culture and economic disparity which can cause significant turmoil within a country.
As an example, Australia has recently run into a major problem with Asian businesspeople who don't live in Australia, nor have any plans to live in Australia, nor have Australian citzenships buying out residential property and then sending family members to squat in them until they can find a suitable Asian buyer to the tune of millions. It is absolutely ridiculous that we allow for residential property (not commercial property, it's important international clients can purchase buildings to represent their company) to be bought and sold by discriminating owners who don't even live inside this country, especially when it's extremely difficult for our own citizens, both those who were born here and those who have legally stayed the minimum amount of time (something like ~7 years) and have done the test, to afford housing.
You need to get tough to prevent clashes of culture like this, and Sweden has unfortunately always been a country that dedicates itself to "keep to yourselves, don't get caught up in what others are doing." My friend confirmed and together we laughed about it in the past. Unfortunately, that attitude has allowed for an incompatible culture to enter into a place where it doesn't belong and cause significant issues to the lives of innocent people who didn't need this.
And I understand that it's not every immigrant doing this, but the fact of the matter is that these issues are coming out of the uncontrolled immigration due to the low standards being kept in Sweden.
