Author Topic: So I am starting a youtube channel  (Read 2815 times)

Intros will murder your audience retention. Have a cool identifiable catchphrase at the start instead, and focus on an outro. Seriously, the intro meme is on the way out.

Always note that your #1 goal on youtube is to entertain people. Anybody can play Warframe. The reason why people like Pewdiepie or Markiplier get subs is because of their personality. You're gonna have to get a little loud and more expressive. It'll probably be a little awkward and embarrassing at first, and you'll have to fake it at times, but over time you'll get comfortable with it and begin to settle into your 'youtube personality'. You've definitely got the voice for it, which is a plus, and your mic quality sounds pretty good.

How sad, I think, that the path to success on YouTube essentially boils down to "be as loving fake as possible".

That's the wrong way of looking at it. It's literally just acting at a very basic level.

i dont think you necessarily have to be fake, maybe just more expressive.

hello it's blackmod here and today we're going to play with an arcade joystick and drink some soda

HEY WHAT'S UP GUYS!? You totally already saw my username under the thumbnail, but I'm gonna obnoxiously introduce myself anyway even though nobody gives a stuff, AND even though you also already saw in the title what game I was going to be playing, I'm also going to tell you that every time you watch me play!

Also, the way I'm going to talk throughout the video is going to be as if I'm actually conversing with you, even though that's loving stupid and impossible! I'll also ask you questions and suggest you leave answers in the comments, even though I couldn't possibly read all the things all you people say, and the top comments are always going to be "I'M SO EARLY, POP CULTURE REFERENCE"!

Be sure to like and subscribe, even though I've done everything I can to make myself into a screaming cursing carbon copy of PewDiePie and you might as well just watch him instead! Now I'm going to say my dumb catch phrase and like, backhand the camera or something weird in order to have at least a LITTLE shred of uniqueness among popular YouTubers!

Ha ha I remember when I tried that.

I'm pretty sure I burned all the evidence.

He said whats up? Thats not obnoxious at all.

Why the forget does this matter? He's 'wasting' about a second of the video saying what game he's playing? Sure he has it in the video title but he doesn't know that until he names the video, calm the forget down.

What are you asking from him? Talking like a nice, normal human being is bad???? You're a broken human being if you think that. He could probably read all the comments since he is a small channel (rn) and even channels with 200+ subs still get around 30 comments, also, he isnt just gonna read the top comments.

He hasn't done anything like pewdiepie like holy stuff, did you even loving watch the video? Holy stuff like im 400% sure you're trolling now, he said "have a good day" like he loving said "HAVE A GOOD DAY" are you severely autistic? Did you even watch the video? Because it doesnt seem like it.

Final Thoughts; stop posting.

No, all that crap was just 'poking fun' at YouTubers in general who wanna try to make it big and follow the same formula that was established by the current biggest YouTubers. I didn't watch any video linked here.

Yeah when I read it I thought it was personally directed at me. I was wondering how he could be so critical at my first attempt at a YouTube video.

if theres one thing im not a huge fan of its the channel name because i think its generally agreed amongst most people that having "Gaming" at the end of a channel name implies low quality or atleast it gives off that vibe to me, if its just a placeholder however then its fine

Yeah, I wouldn't be like that. I suppose I should have made it clear that my post was like a derision of the popular YouTuber commentary formula and not something personal against someone in particular.
