Author Topic: [NEWS] DEA declares marijuana has no medical benefit, will remain illegal  (Read 10043 times)

Wait I've got a question.

To a guy who knows little about weed and has no desire to try it, can y'all synopsize its health benefits and risks?
And don't go claiming there are no risks (unless there really aren't which would be cool I guess), just as briefly as you can tell me the goods and bads.

PROS:
Anti-Depressant
Anti-Inflammatory
Helps with the treatment of cancer. (yes that one post I made was a joke, there was a large amount of sarcasm in it)
Helps with appetite
Stabilizes mood
Powerful painkiller
Known to help treat PTSD

Cons:
Smoke is harmful no matter what, period.
High can sometimes be very impairing
Too much can make you sick
Some strains can/will cause paranoia and/or anxiety.

When bred a certain way you can have much less THC (the high causing chemical) and raise the CBD (Healing chemicals) for strictly medical use.

alyx you forgot the part where it doesnt do stuff for cancer or ptsd and it destroys brain cells.

there's like no proof supporting this tho

There's so much wrong with this.

First off, making it illegal is what makes it possible for drug lords to exist. Remember what happened during the Prohibition era. If you make something illegal, you're only going to make it a more dangerous market for the product.

Speaking of the Prohibition era, the Constitution was amended to ban the selling of alcohol, and then amended again when it proved to not work. When the "War on Drugs" was started back then, no amendments. So doesn't that mean the ban on certain drugs is unconstitutional and even illegal?

People who want to get high are going to get high somehow. You're not going to stop them no matter how hard you try. The best you can do is teach them about the substance and the pros and cons (in equal measure). Then they'll make their own decisions about what is best for them.

not the best source
that's like the most left-leaning, propagandist news source next to TV news
theres 2 other sources in his post (for the ptsd claim) and you can google it yourself as well for 20+ more

I wasn't saying he was full of stuff

I was just saying that source in particular is not trustworthy or objective

Well, tbh, tobacco should be illegal. Alcohol too, but that won't be successful, and even I as a very irregular drinker would miss it.

Also, I bet the US has researched the forget out of cannabis, in secret. Certainly nothing stopped them richarding around with LSD.
I mean, the US has researched the forget out of cannabis publicly as well

Probably illegal still so Jails can continue to make more money.

Why the forget was weed made illegal to start with?

Except we have absolutely no idea what the predisposition that causes it is or where to look even, while allergic reactions are understood and, in most cases, less severe than lasting/life-long psychological disabilty.

Then let it be schedule 2 so we can officially study the drug ffs.

probably the same reason as opium and those types of drugs, even though marijuana is much safer
