holy forget
how long did you take to plan and make that

I really need to use my 1.76m units but whenever I go to the stores to buy stuff, I just forget what I actually want and then end up buying nothing for my condo because I don't want furniture I won't ever use, lol.

I had done a bit of early work on my condo before I really began working on it and making it into what it is today. I have a few screenshots of what it looked like, but I won't post them because it looked stuffty.

I really began to work my condo into what it is today around update 0.1.0.8, which allowed us to change colors and textures of certain areas of the condo.  The condo's design and furniture available at the time reminded me of Mirror's Edge, so I decided to go with a red/black/white theme and used pictures of skyscrapers and cities to give the condo a more "urban" feel to it (Some of the pictures are self-shot pictures of my favorite beach, I later removed them in favor of other pictures.) Other than the theme and a basic idea of what each room would be, I had no other plans. Most of it was trial and error and inspiration from other condos. Some rooms looked completely different (Back then the condo had no lights, so I used upside down lamps and other lights to brighten the living room. Before then, it got really, really dark.), and some even had different uses (Bedroom and office were swapped, with the room with the window being the bedroom and the band room was originally a stuffty theater room.)  Even today I'm still working on it, with the exterior slowly being worked on as I fight my gambling addiction and lack of ideas for the exterior.

TL;DR: A long time with little to no planning whatsoever.

Tip: Here's how I usually design a room now that I actually have a planning system going:
1. Get an idea of what it's going to be first.
2. Make a basic layout. Plan it out in your head or even draw it on paper.
3. Put down the basics first. Furniture, functional items, etc. Make adjustments if necessary.
4. Add details, like small decorative items that give the room an aesthetic touch.

can you actually design your own condo or just change the colors/furniture?
As of now, it's just wall colors/textures and furniture. Custom condo layouts are planned, but I wouldn't expect to see it soon. People have done some really interesting stuff with the building blocks that you can get, stuff like adding a third floor or maybe something even crazier.

We should all arrange a party in a single condo. And watch jontron in a marathon.
