Author Topic: Anagaea III — A New Era of Empires — 1425 BC [PORTING TO NEW MANAGEMENT]  (Read 12114 times)

Kyrvan spends the interim fortifying its land claim.

The negotiations start well.  The targeted clans request three days to make a decision.  Upon conclusion, they agree.
The inclusion of the new clans is celebrated with a feast, and the intentions to intermarry and cement the relationship are obvious.  The Council convenes, and is agreed that unless the proper foundations are laid now, similarly peaceful expansion of the Council's power into ethnically Avalonian territory will be difficult; as a result, those Avalonians close enough or wealthy enough to correspond with their kinsmen outside of the Council's sphere of influence.

The Council has begun to work on a law code, both to further cement its own authority, and to make many of the principles of local law universal within the Avalonian nation.  This law code is largely made up of principles intrinsic to the Avalonian way of life, and judicial decisions made by men of great merit in the past.  This undertaking is done quietly, as such a move could be taken poorly in the recently incorporated territories.

Population:
327,231
The starting max is 250,000 at present.  I don't think SWAT will raise any other objections.

Military:
24,204 Soldiers.
Armed with steel plating and leather suits, bronze swords and short bows. They also use horses to move on flatlands.
2 things

1: steel didnt exist until the chinese started producing it in around 350-200 BC
2: with our primitive metallurgy, swords are very expensive. equipping every man with a bronze sword is a radical idea at this point, but simpler weapons that require less training and maintenance were usually preferred. there is a reason the legendary greek phalanx relied on spears of grand size

Got it, updating now
Sorry about that

I'm also sorry and will fix

Attempt to communicate to the people in the west, and scouts in the east should attempt to settle the lands.
The natives in the west, if it is possible to communicate with them, are asked if they would like to join our great nation. If they accept, they must give up their previous religious beliefs and worship the state religion. However, by joining, they will be under full protection of the Alardian military, and will be allowed to move anywhere they want in the kingdom.

If they refuse, the scouts are to head back home, and come back with a larger force of 5,000 men. If they still refuse, they are to be cut down.
They agree with reluctance.

Accepted, granted that your military is adjusted to be ≤13% of your total population.  Also, as a courtesy, can you shrink the flag a bit.

Asru sends some scouts east and west to survey the land and plan further expansions for his people, again.

The slaves left over from the earlier conquest are sent east to help with the construction and settling of their new people.
Both sides are inhabited by cautious tribes.  Some of them point sticks at you.

I've PMed you another spot I want to claim.
This is what I got.  Might wanna preview your messages before sending them.

Erinaum makes peace with the Zhenia, Kashysa, Chepri, and Pokele clans.  The alliance is nicknamed the Winged Bonze Crest.  Alarmed, Belenia seeks out its own alliance network.

Both sides are inhabited by cautious tribes.  Some of them point sticks at you.

Asru finds this understandable enough, and decides to try and make contact with both. Given the ability to communicate with earlier tribes, the languages they used are attempted- though some more linguistically gifted men are sent over with a few gifts to try and coax them into deciphering their tongue before they begin trying to give them a few reasons to join up with Byartalena.

One of these reasons are a bit more obvious, with some warriors set nearby to due some military practice to try and project their power onto them, and just in case things begin to go south.

They agree with reluctance.
This is considered a great success, and the scouts are told to scout directly west of the border.

Certain aspiring members of the community are selected and told to build two farms along the lake. When the farms are finished, the members will get the farms and be allowed to use them.

After some exploring, Slavakian scouts come back bringin back the map of the current world slavakains and jakoguns discovered, after days of reaserching the map, king Hano - Koregana declares:

"We shall spread to the east, Our men will cross the sea and colonize the islands. We will stop spreading until we reach the mountains. When we get there, we shall make the most sacred city for jakoguns and slavakians on this world to honor our gods, for this wast and big world"-King Hano - Koregana

The king then sends a party of builders to build the "Holyiest" city on this planet.

The ban declares a diffrent idea:
"I see land on the west, That land will give us more space for our people to expand upon. Any bandit camps on the way of the expansion will be destroyed for the greater good of slatinians." -Ban Hrvoslav Stasov

A group of slavakian settlers moves towards the west to colonize it.

Guarded caravans, each with their own envoys of diplomats and scouts, are deployed past meaningful borders of the league- that is, borders that denote not only the limits of the league's protection, but borders with a meaningful population past them. The scouts are sent ahead of the caravans, their intent being to locate foreign tribes or foreign tribes' scouts. In the scenario that they do make contact, their jobs are to make it clear that they come as representatives and diplomats, rather than a hostile force. The caravans carry furs, wines, and metals - offers of goodwill. Offers of mutual prosperity.

The goal of these expeditions is to establish good relations with the tribes who, while historically born from the same culture as the League's tribe, are nevertheless at least a couple branches away on the tribal heritage tree. Trade, and if they're willing, alliances, are offered alongside the gifts.

On the internal side of things, there is an increased focus on infrastructure. Cities' paved roads are improved and expanded, whilst the vast majority of the agrarian countryside simply develops its beaten down dirt roads. Some hamlets employ the use of rounded stones in their roads, though it's generally only to reduce erosion. Research shifts to horticulture.

The tribes accept the gifts, but are still cautious.  The linguistic barrier with these tribes is quite high.

Farm construction commences.  Scouts find tribes who want nothing to do with them, and also find them on horseback hunting buffalo.

-snip-
Both parties are attacked by pirates and raiders.  While some expansion was successful, a great deal of population (c. 10,520) and capital has been lost.

Negotiations go well and trade is accepted by many of thee tribes.

Erinamese planters are given a new code by which one may plant, finding that the land needs to be left fallow for longer.  Erinaum begins to trade much with its allies, and thus, all parties involved mutually grow in prosperity.

Asru continues to reach out in a diplomatic manner, with the linguists sent to work on bridging the linguistic gap in order to open proper diplomatic communications with the people. For the time being, they simply guard their visitors with some warriors and continue to try and not piss them off as they remain friendly and try to get them relax. Muscle flexing also stops, to put them at ease a bit.

Scouts are told to double back and head east of the border instead.

3,000 troops are sent to the area where the tribes that joined the nation are to protect them and to keep the peace.

When the farms are completed, the owners are to grow at least a certain amount of crop each year. They are to sell the crop to the state, and we will sell the crop to the people for a profit. If they do not meet the crop quota, a fine will be issued, scaling on how many crops they missed. The owners are not allowed to leave the farms unless they are approved to or forced to by the state. When the owner of the farm dies, the farm will go to the oldest member of the family. If there is no family, it will be auctioned off by the state.

The area south of the eastern most part of the border is to have a fort constructed on one of the hills. People are selected to build it, and when they are done they will receive a few coins and will be sent back home.

Holdings fortified, Kyrv scouts are sent throughout the forests, hills and mountains.

The jakogun king, Hano-koregana has died, and its time for the new jakogun king to be elected.
Since the last king had no sons, the power-struggle for the throne is left to the noblemen of the jakoguns.

The ban is bored. The bandits are not even putting up a fight with his men, and the jakogun power struggle isn't interesting to him, so he sends yet another scout team to search for any other empires or kingdoms.

Over time, they begin to communicate better and are willing to trade.

Kyrv scouts discover some tribes who are willing to talk and communicate in a friendly manner.  Other Kyrv scout discover bears who are not as willing to extend the same courtesy.

The WBC begins to research good food storage and growth practices, and plans to set them in motion when the research is complete, and attempts to leverage Griđjaš and Vjdanija into its ranks.  [Moderation needed]

The scout team is captured, has all of their stuff stolen, and is sent walking back into town stripped down naked in shame; a lighter punishment this time.

Several top advisors recommend either an armed campaign or scouting in different directions.
