Harmless Companion Cube

I got this idea completely from Garry's Mod. It's a companion cube that slides towards you when you are not looking. It also plays weird sound clips that stop as soon as you turn around. When it gets close enough to you, it pulls out a knife and stabs you. is this possible?

Seems like it would be possible using a check for the player's LOS. (not sure what it is, but I know it exists)
