Author Topic: youtube introduces new advertiser friendliness guidelines  (Read 5012 times)

supposedly they're supposed to be considering context, which would protect videos that are supposed to "inform or entertain (not offend or shock)." nevertheless videos that definitely fit those parameters are being demonetized, so hopefully these are problems that will be fixed through appeals. still complete bullstuff and shows how clueless youtube is of its creators

Can i just say that sky does minecraft recently said he would make videos in his old swearing style before this came out.

Also if the video URL has something bad like "b0ob" in it, the video is taken down.

loveual humor???
"INAPPROPRIATE LANGUAGE???"

loving rip in peas cr1tikal's monetization
YouTube hates charity /confirm

This is probably a scheme to shut down small youtubers so they only have the pay the most watched ones

yeah, it sucks, i've seen this already affect youtubers like idubbbz, phillip defranco, scarce, etc.
if youtube keeps enforcing these rules they'll basically go broke lol
Google won't be going broke any time soon.

i really wish youtube wasn't so much of a monopoly

people say this every time, but it'd be fantastic if youtube actually had competition. if people could actually reasonably make the decision to go elsewhere then they'd have to think a lot harder about these things. i doubt there are youtube execs plotting deviously to take advantage of their helpless content creators, there's almost certainly some real reason why this was a good idea, but they just don't have to worry about any significant number of people leaving their service. it's a non-issue for them, so it isn't relevant.

best case scenario they reverse this, second-best they just don't enforce it seriously. also, apparently partners weren't even notified that these changes were coming either

Maybe they want to shut down the AVGN.

And Joueur du Grenier (Popular french AVGN clone, jokes are better)

An- yeah you get the idea.

Youtube did this because they think they should focus more towards kids.

Inappropriate language

rip nearly every single monetised channel

Well, there's independently hosting videos on your own site or using a different site like vimeo or a site dedicated to certain types of content creators.

Creating a Youtube clone that uses the 2009-era Youtube layout would be cool but you would need servers to host a ton of video and money to give people if you were to implement monetization.

yeah but none of those things give you free access to the massive viewer base that youtube has. there's no way they'd ever be reasonably profitable in comparison

does anyone remember zippcast?
