I'm going to loving call you people out whenever you say bullstuff like the game will never get updated.

You mean have a tantrum because you misread what I said said and then go on a tirade about why I was wrong about something I never even said in the first place?

Why would they update it? It's lost all of its momentum and they've extracted 90% of the money that can be theoretically made from this game. There is no incentive for them to continue major development, other than to perhaps improve their reputation as a company (which, a few million dollars later, probably isn't a huge deal).

Why was RAGE updated like years later?

Why did that scott pilgrim game receive a random DLC update for multiplayer years after release?

Stop it.

because those games had more potential than this

Okay, but think for a second, why is it that such a huge percentage of projects funded on Kickstarter and put out Early-Access on Steam end up stagnating and dying out before development finishes?

I'll give you a hint, it's because all of the money moves to the developers before they've finished the job, and any additional effort isn't rewarded with a reasonable amount of money.

Development doesn't come freely or cheap, if there isn't an incentive then development will be an uphill battle the whole way through. Along with that, you can't deny that they lost a lot of momentum. It's going to be a tough sell regardless.

Lol no.

Scott Pilgrim was taken off the store a couple months after they released the online DLC.

Online DLC they released like what 2-3 years after release lol.

I'm not saying that they won't keep up a nice little skeleton crew to keep pushing out bug fixes and the occasional content update. It's just that there's no way in hell that they're going to continue to pay an entire development team to fix every single problem with this game when there's essentially no more economic incentive. If Hello Games is run by actual businessmen, there is absolutely no way they will spend that money.

Believe it or not, people are still buying this game whether you like it or not. lol

Murray has offered the potential to extend the game through downloadable content, though because of the procedural generation systems used, would likely be in the form of added features rather than new content.[16] For example, with release of the day one patch, Hello Games has pointed to base building and the ability to purchase freighters as planned additions to the game.[50] Murray anticipates all updates will be freely available,[126] but did not rule out that some yet-planned features may require them to charge for the content.[127]

Murray did suggest the possibility of releasing mod tools for Windows players to alter the game, though noted that they would be limited, and would not allow players to create new planets in the game, for example.[128] About a week after the Windows release players had already started to examine the game's files and create unofficial mods, with at least one mod-sharing website offering these for distribution.[129]

The developers have stated they are looking at supporting virtual reality (VR) hardware, but as of June 2015 have not announced any plans.[27] Murray stated in an April 2016 interview with IGN that VR "would be a really good fit" for No Man's Sky, as the immersive experience could create "really intense moments within a game".[130] Murray also commented on the potential for a remastering of No Man's Sky for a system with more hardware capabilities, suggesting that they would be able to both increase the texture resolution and the degree of complexity of the flora and fauna on the planets.[131]

Yeah, a few patches? Point still stands that it would be a goddamn valiant effort to release hearty content update packs for free considering how much of a profit loss it would be

You can tell because the modding community is alive and well. Basically on the verge of cracking those mbin files too. Playerbase will probably get a substantial boost when it goes on sale anyway

I don't like how games are bypassing the whole "people don't want to buy early access games" train by releasing it "in a completed state" while launching it with many lacking features with the promise of "near future updates".

It's practically early access, but without the tag to let people know that the game isn't finished yet.

I don't like the early access meme in general. ARK is getting paid DLC despite being in early access
