It costs 400$, which is not even half of a ton. Did you even click the link?

Some games will have different modes like 4k30fps and 2k60fps. Rise of the tomb raider has it.

I really don't see the appeal in this system other than the flashy 4K and 60FPS, which as you've already stated is a big "if" in the case of  that only some games will feature such support.

Especially for current PS4 users, there's really no justification to blow another $400 on higher resolution and better FPS for certain titles

PC gamers (I'm one) are willing to spend 600$ for a new GPU. I'm sure Playstation fans will pay 400$.

This is extremely flawed logic.

First of all, a big reason that people buy PS4s in the first place is their affordability over PCs. If people really were ready to drop $800 readily on gaming systems then PCs would be a lot more popular.

Second of all, not everyone buy $600 GPUs. They represent a small minority. Most people will buy GPUs in the range of $150-$200

Lastly, GPUs are completely different than what's being sold here. A GPU allows a computer as a whole to improve its performance considerably. For all games and many other applications included GPUs increase FPS, efficiency, quality of graphics, etc.

4K capability and increased FPS in some games is not at all comparable to the improvements a new GPU offers, especially at this price point

If you do the math, a PC Gamer actually spends less in the long run if both buy one game in a month for 5 years.

Looking forward to this; I've been holding out ever since the rumours of the PS4.5. I've had my copy of Ratchet & Clank for months, but I'll finally be able to play it soon. It'll also be nice to have a 4K compatible system for watching the really high-quality blu-rays, but I don't have a 4K monitor/TV just yet.

After this, I need only wait for the Xbox One Scorpio, unless Microsoft releases the Master Chief Collection on PC beforehand (which is extremely unlikely, but one can dream).

There's just one thing that the PS4 Pro cannot do for whatever reason.

This thing cant run 4k at 60 FPS or probably even 30 FPS. Most PS4 games sacrifice full HD and instead go for a lower resolution to hit 60 or even 30 FPS. If its a bit more than twice the power, it should only run 1440p at playable frames and 4k is going to suck. If they said "Four times the power" maybe i would have believed them a bit more.

only about twice as powerful as an old ps4.

so still garbage...

just got the ps4 pyramid, i have to keep it outside as it incinerates my wall paper and because it doesn't fit into my dirt hovel

Especially when you compare based on specs. If a PC user wants to only be on par with a console, that 5 years could be cut down considerably. Also gotta factor in PS+/XBL.
Yeah, you wont be able to "max out the graphics" but, lets be real. Medium settings are usually on par or better than the console's standards.

it sounds super lame but the original ps4's price is probably going to drop and i'll be getting that when it does lol
