Author Topic: Honestly, forget rap music.  (Read 12124 times)

Just try to meet people that have similar taste in music as you, no need to waste energy hating on a genre you don't like.

Trust me, I've been there. I'm lucky to have moved somewhere with a music community that I really enjoy.

also how do they gauge the popularity of music? how much it's been listened to? talked about on social media? what?
a great gauge for popularity would be the 100 charts.

What does age have to do with musical taste?

I think he might've been confused as to thinking that he was saying he was born in the 80s. I know I was lol

that still doesn't make sense because 1 rap song could be at the very top with a bunch of different genres right below it
also i'm fairly sure that those lists don't account for every person who listens to music nor every single song that's being listened to
this also brings another question: are these lists even accurate? with so much controversial stuff that's gone on in the music industry in the past few years i wouldn't be surprised to find out that these lists are being manipulated

Sales numbers, radio play numbers, and music streaming numbers.

Sales numbers, radio play numbers, and music streaming numbers.
alright but that doesn't answer the 1st, 2nd, or my initial questions
but this brings me back to the question i actually want answered: can you actually prove that the majority of today's music listeners listen to rap?

Apparently the biggest company that is known for listing the most popular music of today isn't a good enough source. Oh well.

it isn't

i'm a huge fan of rap, but i know exactly what you're talking about. it's the stuff without a real melody, and it talks about how loving rich the rapper is, or how many bitches he has, and how he's going to kill you if you cross his path, right?

like this, for instance.

^that is stuff. i saw him live last night and i loving hated it. i came for the act after him. honestly it's just negative, hostile, stupid ass stuff that should stay in its own little corner. it's unoriginal.

stuff like this is more my style. it's got a nice melody, someone with a true feel for rhythm, and its lyrics are actually creative, with skilled wordplay.

i'm not saying you have to like the genre, but there is a difference between mainstream rap and actual hip-hop. the former has basically destroyed the culture's reputation and brought all of the wrong people into it.

here's one who probably raps

If you think quoting yourself as a valid source is an argument then there's no use to keep talking to you. The world will be with you when you crawl out of your "muh dadrock" hole.

I'm okay with rap music but the new rap music nowdays is terrible

i'm asking you the questions, forgetnut and you've avoided half of them without providing any source whatsoever except for saying "top 100"
i think you've got me mixed up with another person because i don't listen to any rock whatsoever
the bottom line is that you can't actually provide a source that says that rap is what the majority of today's music listeners listen to and therefore it's a baseless claim
A majority of todays music listeners listen to rap.
you've played me like a goddamn fiddle and i'm a loving idiot for trying this with some like you

See instead of bringing any credible points to the table you just throw a hissy fit. And here I was thinking I could have actual discussion with someone.

Above: A user who has completely given up all hope of putting up a credible argument. Trying to go up against me usually has that effect.

Totally agree, Personally I like older music (1930s to early 80s, and a few from the mid to late 80s) Something that I don't like about modern music is it has no point what so ever, When almost every older song had a meaning behind it, From the sadness of someone dying to the Beauty of  nature, each song was a Poetic Story, Modern songs literally just use rhymes to make it sound like a song, But they're not trying to deliver any message. And on a short last subject "Modern Love Songs" are literally saying everything a girl wants to hear "I'll love you till im 90" "We'll grow old together" and lack any meaning behind them also.
