Author Topic: Would you rather: Play Blockland on Mac OS X or Windows?  (Read 4742 times)

Why would people play any game on a Mac
I don't know why. They're very expensive for to drop & break. It's safe to say it's potato power.

I only have a macbook, but I still would run it on Windows as the game is designed for windows and the mac version is a port
Also, my macbook doesn't have all the desired key bindings in the controls so it's a pain to have to bind all the new keys that are on the keyboard.

Aren't the keys binded automatically though?

only operating systems that ive ever played blockland on is OS X and Linux
so i guess i have to choose OS X

On a windows computer, you will have a full keyboard with the page up and down buttons and the number pad.
On mac, you don't have the number pad or the page up or down regardless wether it's a macbook or an actual computer.
This is a real pain because you have to bind all the keys that are binded onto the number pad or the page up and down buttons to something else on the keyboard and it gets messy because I can't remember what some of the stuff I've binded.
For example I had to bind every key that was binded to the the numberpad to a letter instead.

The first time you run Blockland you are offered a standard config or a laptop config. The latter is for no keypad. You can just click "Defaults" in the Controls tab and you get the same prompt. No need to do it yourself.

Cant you do that yourself?
This question is completely irrelevant to the problem.
The steam on mac version of the application seemingly cannot write any files, nor can it read any add-ons.
The workaround involves taking the launcher, running it, grabbing the files, and replacing your steam files with them.

The buttons your keyboard has doesn't have anything to do with the operating system.
You can plug any USB keyboard into a computer or laptop and experience it's full array of keys. Some of these may or may not feature a numpad.

i think i'd rather play blockland on the operating system that works better with it

That would be Windows then.

actually for stability linux is better

actually for stability linux is better
But the question is "Which system is better out of the TWO" so it's Windows.

happyonion are you my long lost brother

It can't write to its own folder properly...
Uuuuhmm... wat?
I've used the OS and it can write fine

...so you can't save prefs or really save anything...
Still got all my saves, screenshots, avatar faves, etc since 2009. It's been saving pretty well fam

IIRC this also forgets with trying to install add-ons.
What are you recalling from exactly...? Again, since 2009 I've been rockin' a big ass addons folder utilising RTB when it was around and now Glass.

Get yo' facts straight

that's like asking would you rather be in blue or red rain?

no it's like asking would you rather be in the rain or not?
