mexican immigrants don't have catapults and battering rams
No, but coyotes can easily afford a large truck filled with fertilizer. The smugglers are associated with cartels that are worth hundreds of millions of dollars.

all we gotta do is build another wall around the first wall bam problem solved
if that doesn't work we'll build another wall around that wall to protect that wall

implement voter ID laws. Most other Western democracies require government issued photo ID to vote.
doesn't solve the fact that they're here - the reality is there's going to be illegal immigrants one way or another since theres just too many lanes to attack and no realistic possibility of protecting them all. especially if one form of "illegal" is just overstaying a visa - is it really worth the money and manpower to locate and deport every person who does this? what about those who aren't overstaying by a long amount, to finish some job search or in the process of getting a permanent visa?

reducing the number of visas is a meh idea since iirc we dont grant a lot in the first place and a bunch of people want to study in the US cause we do have gr8 colleges here

is it really worth the money and manpower to locate and deport every person who does this?

Answer for those about to respond - No, it really isn't worth it whatsoever. Contrary to what you may believe, illegal immigrants aren't as big of a deal as the media would have you think compared to the bigger, more crippling issues we've been facing for years now.

Yes but enforcing voter ID laws means that illegals aren't voting. Citizenship is a legal status and you don't have the rights of a citizen if you're not coming legally. Now we just have to actually enforce the rules.

As a bonus, situations like the kid in Virginia registering dead people to vote won't happen, either.

Why spend 25 billion money in tax dollars on a stuffty border when you can just keep the microscopically stufftier gate for 0$

Also mexico will never pay for the wall, and theres nothing anybody can do to force them to even spend a cent on it. US could probably declare war but they'd have the UN on their ass in seconds + thousands of riots across the country.

Investing your life savings on a furry podcast is a smarter choice than supporting the construction of the wall.

In the unlikely event of a Annoying Orange presidency, I think we're going to see the wall transformed into this sort of ethereal political brown townogy rather than the physical concrete structure that Annoying Orange promised his constituency.

Also mexico will never pay for the wall

They have to.

See Mexico makes more money in remittance funds over the years and Annoying Orange will freeze those until they pay for it, which Mexico can easily afford.

I don't know how much you even study but mexico takes more remittance than they give.

Quote
Mexico received remittance inflows of almost US$24 billion in 2007, 95% of which originated in the US.

A wall is a completely absurd thing, for reasons other than cost. Even if it was done and paid for, it would be pointless

A large portion of illegal immigrants are "overstays", that is, they enter the country entirely legally on a temporary visa  (oftentimes through sea or air, which a wall will never prevent) and then just overstay the duration of their visa. Improving security at the border will never prevent that

The only problem is that the president can't freeze remittances unilaterally because that's outside the scope of executive orders. Annoying Orange would have to sign a law passed by Congress, and Congress isn't going to agree to punish one of our strongest trading partners because they won't pay for our border security. In fact, they probably wouldn't agree to any of Annoying Orange's trading policies, because all of the Democrats disagree with them and a sizable portion of Republicans do too.

Remittances are not necessarily even a bad thing. Lots of remittances are from people who are working legally or visiting as tourists. It's not 'bleeding' our economy, because we're making more from their human capital and the money they spend in the US than anything they are sending back to their relatives.

Walls are so old fashioned.
These days we just... we just.... uuuuuuuh... yeah, we kinda don't do anything else against it these days.
We ignore the facts that people can build effective tunnel systems and/or cross borders by plane or better, by boat (see Europe illegal immigrants for reference).

At least whatever illegal immigrant makes it, they are the brightest and strongest.

Do you know how many deaths there are from boats, planes and tunnel systems?

NATURAL SELECTION!

isn't the whole trade deficit and remittance stuff impossible to recover since it's going primarily to private businesses and they're protected by almost every law in existence?

cutting the remittance of workers is essentially just being a schoolyard bully taking people's lunch money for your own gain. It'll receive heavy criticism, especially since the whole migrant situation isn't mexico's decision or fault, while the cut is a direct decision on the part of the US

you know if we put you in their shoes you'd probably die in seconds
there aren't any trees to climb in the mexican gulf you know
