Author Topic: Is the PS Vita any good?  (Read 1968 times)

I've started to look into the PS Vita (because I haven't really payed much attention to it before) and I'm just wondering how good it is. From the very limited amount of videos I've seen it seems to have a much better array of games compared to the 3DS. However I haven't really seen if it can be played without the actual Playstation consoles. Stuff like the PS3 and PS4.

It can be played without the consoles, since the PS Vita is it's own handheld console itself lmao

It is good just it depends if you like the games that are available for the vita

A majority of the games are like, ports (or rather they are multi platform with the PS3 and PS4), and dating sims. I think they appeal to a niche audience as opposed to the 3DS, but if you yourself are interested in their games, it's fine enough. The Vita TV also is a good augment which I kind of wish the 3DS could have in some way, but yeah, it's called a DS for a reason, cause you need two screens... IMO it's fine, I prefer the 3DS over it personally though.

if you're into jrpgs then yeah on sale maybe

I don't really mind that most of the games are ports. I have seen a few racing games like F1 2011 and WRC 3-4. The thing about the 3DS is that I already have a DS (no I'm not trying to say that the 3DS is just an upgraded DS), and to me it seems like there are only three major titles for the DS/3DS. That being anything from Mario, Legend of Zelda and Sonic. None of those titles I'm very interested in, whereas the Vita seems to have more of the titles I am interested in.

Well that is a relief.

I am starting to get intrigued by jrpgs. To be honest I would rather have the PS4 because I prefer consoles, however the only game I would get a PS4 for is the next GranTurismo game. Other than that I'm not really interested in the Playstation consoles all that much, so I figured why not just get the Vita and save some money.

Because the most of the games you can get on the PS4 you can get on the Xbox One, and I'd rather get the Xbox One.

loving yes. It is a decent system if you like JRPGs (with the best game on the vita being Persona 4 Golden), I actually prefer it over the 3DS. Also, the vita pretty cheap, so yeah.

Honestly the Vita is pretty good value for money when you look at the price in comparison to other handhelds. If you compare the price to a normal 3DS (not the XL) it really does look to be the better console. The Vita looks bigger (I don't know this for certain) and it seems to be more capable.

Ironically I'm not actually a fan of mobile gaming or most handhelds. Because normally it just seems like they only have a ton of low quality games that really aren't that much fun to play (this is more towards Phones).

Sold mine because the range of games was limited, the console ports were horrible to control by comparison to the originals and ultimately I wanted more PC games.
