The engine itself which is Torque Game Engine, is written in C++.
TorqueScript is a coding language for modders and is not what the game engine is written in.

I was hoping it would be Lua, since it's the only one that I currently know

If you're planning to make mods, Torque Script is what you'd be learning.
It's fairly simple to learn.
