Author Topic: considering NOT going to college  (Read 3048 times)

all my life i've kind of felt obligated to go to college, and now that i'm almost there i'm not really feeling it. what i want to do doesn't apply to any specific major. honestly the only thing i like to do is to fix people's computers and i'd like to get into web design.

the only real reason i'd want to go is that it feels like college is my last attempt at meeting people/finding girls.

i'm due to take the act next saturday, but i'm honestly thinking about skipping it (i know, stupid me)

do you guys have any advice or relate to this in some way?

Unless if you're fine with only getting into low-level minimum wage jobs and have a hard time having your applications considered, then you seriously should go to college

Having a college degree at all will get you into a metric forget-ton more jobs than a high-school diploma, even if it's a Minor's Degree.

if you want a job of that, have you thought of computer engineering?

you going to end up like my dad

except i know more about you

i feel like that's biased. don't have any reason to back that up, but it seems cliche and biased.

can't get accepted into stem, my grades were too low

It's not biased at all (on my end, but in the real world, having a college degree will help out 10x than just a diploma), getting into any job, having a college degree will always allow you to have more options in positions you can be in, and it'll help getting into specific jobs as well

Here's a couple of sources I've found, plus if you speak with any teacher or education director, they'll say the same thing

"do you have any information/sources to back this up?" is what i'm sure he meant

I just now edited my post

If you 100% don't want to go to college, join the military.

If you 100% don't want to go to college, join the military.

i'm not willing to put my life on the line for anyone

please go to college, dont become that one guy whos asking his friends for money all the time and wears a wife beater shirt.
no seriously you'll be able to get jobs much easier and not have to spend the rest of your life flipping burgers and maybe do something you enjoy instead.

Most colleges IIRC have courses for Information Tech, and Web Design/Enginneering

Also, if you like fixing computers, you should try out for CompTIA+ A+ certification. Its a good way to prove your competency in computer repair. It only focuses on the basics but proves you know what you're doing
