Author Topic: considering NOT going to college  (Read 3041 times)

College is by no means whatsoever a necessity if all you want is to become an IT guy.

Really all you need is a bunch of IT certifications (like the A+ Certification) on your Resume and actually know your stuff and any place looking for IT will hire you.
Speaking of IT Certs, do the CISCO Networking Certs only work on CISCO products?

isng being in college sort of like a job
you work constantly and at the end you get some cash right? but without overtime payment?

CISCO has a bunch of different certifications, but I haven't taken that one, so I dunno.

i'm not willing to put my life on the line for anyone
military is the way to go.

for one, it's a job. you can go reserves in which you only have to do your job 2 DAYS out of a month and you'll get paid an okay amount.
the army is paying $40,000 of my college tuition. even if i don't use my degree, forget it, i basically got it for free.
but then again, this is coming from someone who WANTS to go in a combat zone. i kinda regret going reserves because i now have to wait to switch to active duty.
really though, if all else fails for you, military. do it

note: lord tony didn't go to college and it shows

I'm a college drop out.

he works at a grocery store what are you expecting from him

I worked in walmart electronics, bro. Even if it's walmart you still kinda have to know what you're doing there.

i mean im considering not going to college because i dont have any money but trade stuff sounds interesting
also op take the loving ACT you pusillanimous individual

pick one

You try working at walmart electronics.

Although I was just there recently and I was selling the phones better than their actual employees lol. My friend wanted to check out a phone so we went there, I told him everything he needed to know.

The employees there were watching because I was giving them tips.

didn't tony quit walmart because he thought he was better than them?

why are we talking about him in the third person

OT:
just go through college and get a low-effort degree like flower studies or dance or gender studies something that doesn't require a lot of work so that you can at least have a degree
the bar has been raised too high to not get a degree at the very least
go to tennessee or minnesota or oregon they have free community college there

Unless if you're fine with only getting into low-level minimum wage jobs and have a hard time having your applications considered, then you seriously should go to college

Having a college degree at all will get you into a metric forget-ton more jobs than a high-school diploma, even if it's a Minor's Degree.
There's also trade school.

IT sounds decent to me.

i'm the stereotypical white kid where my only arm strength comes from jerking off. there's no hope for me lol

Why the heck does everyone always think that if you join the military, you have to fight? There are different branches. My dad joined the Air Force, and he was only taught how to shoot a gun like once when he first joined in Officer Training School. He's retired now after over 20 years of service, and he never once went into combat. Heck, most of the jobs in the Air Force aren't flying jets, they mostly involve computers. My brother's friend, too, just recently joined the Navy, and he's basically a firefighter on an aircraft carrier.

The only problem with joining the military is that you get moved around a lot. You very rarely get to choose where you're stationed. Ever since my dad joined the military, we haven't lived in a single place for more than two years. The experience of visiting new places was great (e.g. Japan), but it also meant that we couldn't settle down. Now that he's retired, of course, we have, but if you joined the military, you would have to be prepared to move around a lot.

Oh, and if you're wondering why they move people around a lot, it's because they don't want soldiers to get too loyal to their commanding officers. Look up how Julius Caesar got into power. It's quite interesting.
