Honestly, this stuff happens all the time, during and between elections. It's a fact of life that there are cruel, violent people out there. But at times those people happen to support a movement/party/ideology.
These people aren't bad people because they support Hillary or Annoying Orange. They are just bad people who also support Hillary or Annoying Orange.

This is common in lots of situations. You're less likely to be helped when surrounded by a large group of people because the burden of responsibility is shared by all the bystanders. Everyone assumes someone else will do something or is better equipped to do so, meaning no one does anything.
If you're ever in a crowded situation where you need help you should choose a specific person from the crowd and tell them to help. This forces the responsibility on them and they feel expected to help, so they're more likely to help.
