Author Topic: Banjo Kazooie - That Rare Platformer  (Read 4430 times)

Banjo Kazooie is one of the most well known platformers out there, and since I just finished playing the game 100% I decided to make a thread dedicated to the game, it's pre-sequel, sequel and fan games. Banjo Kazooie is a playformer featuring a Bear and a Bird, named Banjo and Kazooie respectively. In Banjo Kazooie you have to collect three main items, Music Notes, Jiggies, and Jinjos. Upon collecting all of the needed items you face Gruntilda, the evil witch who kidnapped your sister, first in a board game and then a climactic battle. Banjo Kazooie has one of the most diverse soundtracks I have heard in a game. Most games make each world have a single theme, this one has it for each environment in a level.

The Collectables:

Jinjos

There are five of these little creatures in each level, upon collecting them, usually they drop a Jiggy. These creatures make a whistle sound whenever you are near them, and they have five various colors.
Jiggies

There are 10 of these in each world, these are used to finish puzzles in the overworld and open levels.
Music Notes

There are 100 of these in every world, and I hate them so loving much.

Well then why dont you remove it so you can put Shaders and Shadows in instead?
There is more to this thread, as you will see
Don't worry your little head, interesting it will be.

wow as if you couldn't get anymore annoying and pretentious

banjo-kazooie and other rare platformers are super overrated

banjo-kazooie and other rare platformers are super overrated
i really hate the words 'overrated' and 'underrated' because if you're saying that something is overrated it just means that more people like it than you do and if you say something is underrated it means that less people like it than you do
die

I have the game in my tiny N64 collection and its good.
Other than that there's nothing else for me to say really.

I hate this game. I hate "Collect all the objects" games. And now im an N64 outcast. If i try to join a gaming club when they say "What games do you hate?" when i say banjo-kazooie they kick me out the door or window.

I wouldn't put any n64 platformer game in 7 or higher out of ten on the controller alone if I could. The Hori minipad thankfully makes this issue a bit more bareable. Other than that I feel that Banjo Kazooie is very Linear, and Tooie looks to be full of backtracking. This thread will be me brown townizing the gameplay and my thoughts on what could be improved.

can you actually loving not or do you have brain damage

This thread will be me brown townizing the gameplay

the very deep and complicated gameplay mechanics of banjo kazooie? what

and my thoughts on what could be improved.

its not like that would do much good either
afaik they arent making a new banjo kazooie game, no rare employees are looking at this thread, and theres no fan project (unless you mean yooka-laylee but thats a spiritual successor by ex-rare employees)
