We shouldn't let them use EW custom scaling, ect to be fair :D

[EDIT]
HE NEVER SAID WE HAD TO BUILD IT IN RETAIL.

[EDIT]
HE NEVER SAID WE HAD TO BUILD IT IN RETAIL.

It's sort of the point that they can, and we do.

And it would be terribly unfair of us to go back and beat them at their own game.

What about making the entire thing in torque constructor?

My school has Auto-cad, I can use it, but we'd have to wait for Tuesday. They've got Chief Architect as well, which would be great since I can make a 3D render and 2d views easily, but I don't think you could really make a radio telescope in it. I'd have to do it all through measurements using Google Earth.

If you are really interested, we could start organizing it in the USSR and MotE threads.

The man who designed the telescope was William E. Gordon. If you know anyone at Rice University, you might be able to get a copy of his papers regarding the construction of the telescope sent to you.

The diagrams you are looking for might be somewhere in these papers:

My guess is that we would probably want to stick to easy to find stuff...

There is a dome Pro Builder forgot to add. We definitely need to put that in there.

There it is on Google maps.

Why can't you just organize it in this thread?

I lol'd at the last part. Anyways, isn't the same game? Just a different version?

<Pulls out chart>

Blockland v0002
-Free
-Lags easily
-Terrible mod system
-Not much stuff to do
-Sucks all in all
-Able to make incredibly detailed builds.

Blockland Retail (v8)
-$20
-Doesn't lag
-Incredible Add-On system that people are still fu.cking up
-A lot more to do
-Pwns the ass of 0002
-Not to detailed builds, but still looks kickass.

I like how people will probably never, ever, get RTB and 0002 straight.

As far as I'm concerned, I didn't use the Arecibo Observatory to make the map. I used the Antenna Cradle from Goldeneye to build. If you want to go for the dome, be my guest. But the people who made the Antenna Cradle for Goldeneye: Source changed the layout of the Arecibo Observatory so that it could work properly in Deathmatch. After all, it as a cops and robbers map.

This is the exact same picture I used while building:

Now, a new rule: No interiors, or it's invalid.Haha  :cookieMonster:

And If you were wondering that if the build lagged in RTB, it didn't, at all. As a matter of fact the DM was perfect.

AND you must build it in Retail Blockland, the whole thing has to be bricks.

This will be possible when Badspot makes diagonal bricks.

This will be possible when Badspot makes diagonal bricks.

You don't need diagonal bricks, you need to make the ramps look diagonal.

Since you used terrain for the dish, we should be able to use an interior for that part, just for simplicities sake.

Past that, the build is probably possible, though it might need to be scaled up a bit to make room for the zig-zagging.

No no, you're gonna do exacty what I just did. If I used the terrain for dish, you use the terrain for dish, or build it, I really don't know wtf you're talking about. And I said NO INTERIORS, or invalidation.

What is the difference between interior and terrain?   :cookieMonster:

Alright then, we can play it that way too.

Oh and don't forget, you need to do the little wires too, and they have to look like wires from far away. Haha.

So, you challange us to do a build, and when we start to come up with ideas to overcome the fact that you chose build that is harder by our building system compaired to yours, you come by and make a bunch of rules to overcome our probleming solving ability?

Also, you said the Arecibo Observitory, not the edit for golden eye.  And, in your challenge you never said anything about it having to be good for DMs, so don't even try to say later that it has to be.
