It's just stuffposting. stuffposting can be a fun and enriching experience.
The problem is that it's not *just* stuffposting. Because 90% of everyone on reddit is an idiot, they take the stuffposting as complete unironic truth and run with it. And when I mean run with it, I mean base their entire internet persona around it and vehemently attack anyone who opposes their interests.
It's kind of like how muttering a catchy saying on this forum ends up with fifty people echoing it whenever possible until it loses all meaning, except it's an entire fandom and it reaches almost-cult status within a loving week.
