Author Topic: I want BL_IDs private.  (Read 3824 times)

Publicly putting BL_IDs on servers and player lists and BL_IDs offends me, plz private BL_IDs!

Not going to happen. How would people be banned?

Just have names instend of BLIDs.

Same problem. How would you know who bad people are if they can just change name?

???
its not like its your key or your credit card number lol, why would you want them private? you cant run a troll's id to check who it is if you hide blids

How does a number offend you? I'm genuinely curious.

BLIDs are critically important to how Blockland auth and almost every server mod works. It's a common identifier to keep track of a user regardless of their username and keep track of someone across servers. The ban, admin, and super admin system work using them. Any sort of persistence utilizes them.

Even if they were to be removed from the player list (which they are by default settings), they'd still be accessible server side. Otherwise Blockland would be essentially unplayable. A banned user could change their name and immediately rejoin. That's not an enjoyable experience for anyone.

Just have names instend of BLIDs.
If you mean by the playerlist, go to advanced options and disable the show bl_id in player list option.

If we just have names, people can rename themselves to something else and keep doing the same thing. That is a lot more work than it should be.

I think this guy is trolling

probably but who knows

if it offends you to see people's BLIDs then you can disable them in your player list in the options menu. you can't functionally stop people from knowing anyone else's BLID because they are an essential part of the game. the trust system, bans, auto admin lists, brick ownership, etc. are all default parts of the game that rely on people's IDs, and mods frequently use player IDs to store information as well.

I wanted the same thing back when 16495 was a high BLID, but eventually youll get over it
you don't even know how bad BLID discrimination used to be, its almost non existent now

You sure?
the bl community is not three tiers of circlejerking like back in v8/v9, since it is bigger and all the starfish users have quit already, so yes.

didn't marble man make a script to automatically ban anyone over x id

didn't marble man make a script to automatically ban anyone over x id
He had mad a script that banned someone if their ID was in a certain range, like the 3k block or something.
The reason being was because some site was selling them and people were going around showing off their low IDs.

I remember getting banned from a MotE server because a 1K id was considered too high

BL_ID discrimination doesn't really happen anymore lmao, isn't it off by default? You have to manually enable something in the options menu before you can see BL_ID's in the F2 menu
