Speaking of which what do most of you even use linux for?

Speaking of which what do most of you even use linux for?

same thing you'd use macOS or Windows for

Just plain Debian is my favorite. Ubuntu is usually my go-to for a daily driver simply because I like Unity a lot, but I'm looking at trying out LXDE on Debian later, hoping I'll like it more.

I know this isnt linux, but ehat about ReactOS?

Mandriva is good, especially the KDE games, i guess

Windows 8 is my favorite distro so far, it works with everything!

Now that's a name I haven't heard in a long time.

I use CentOS more often than any other distribution these days.

linux 4.9 + (wayland ? sway|orbment|velox : awesome) + (surf|uzbl) + st + n?vim + ...

...

arch is fine too
hi port

What's wrong with Unity? Even if it's not as good as Unreal Engine perhaps it's definitely better than Torque Game Engine, Blitz 3D etc.

That isn't how it works

And, before you ask, I've never used any form of Linux.

...It's not a problem, right?

I've always wanted to try out Linux for myself one day, I'm just kinda worried about possible incompatibilities with the games and software I use. If I ever do use it, it'll probably be with a dual boot type system

If you've never tried setting up Arch before you could try following https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php?title=Installation_guide in VirtualBox or something similar just so you've tried it
Afterwards, it's really just a matter of setting up the bootloader & partitions right. There's a bunch of information here: https://wiki.archlinux.org/index.php/Dual_boot_with_Windows
The Arch Linux wiki is one of the best for any operating system there is, I really recommend having a look around on it
