Author Topic: does anyone else feel that sun/moon makes it too easy?  (Read 4161 times)

they tell you what moves are effective/super effective, so new players don't have to find out from trial and error anymore.

the island trials are overall too forgetin easy-- i can't make this stuff up

i understand they're trying for something different, but why change something that works?

agreed, games for kids should be brutally difficult

I believe he means that the previous games were just fine and that what Sun and Moon added made it easier

ya because it's a game for children

no. imo XY is way easier then S&M, but that's just from my experience.. I did find most of the trials really easy (but the grass totem, forget that battle).
they tell you what moves are effective/super effectivee
I don't see the problem with this

As we all know kids are complete loving handicaps. If they try to play games that are even remotely difficult they will just stuff their pants and cry. It's not like kids were all playing Super Mario Bros 3 and Contra back in the 80s...

yeah. when I was like 8 and whenever a game had difficultly options and I would always pick the easiest difficulty mode.

The game only tells you what moves are effective/super effective if you've fought Pokémon of that type combination before.

Well yeah so did I. But when put in a position where you either have to succeed or forget off you usually try to succeed, even as a kid.

I imagine having you as a playtester would be one of the funniest experiences any game designer ever could have. They'd probably record you and use your footage whenever they're struggling to find motivation to continue work on a project.

The way you talk about games...incredible...

What I find fascinating is that you, an experienced player, are trying to speak on behalf of new players (not just young kids, but even people like me who've never played a Pokemon game before), especially over such a trivial change. It's clearly something they've discovered as problematic during playtests and made a decision on to try and rectify a communication barrier.

Isn't it at all possible that you're just very good at the game and that you're starting to find it boring as you've played a lot of Pokemon? That's what happens to us with any game that we play a lot of; we grow bored as our skill level reaches heights that means we're incapable of learning anything new.

I'm not really a good player; I don't know stuff about IVs and all that bs. I just use Pokémon that have a good moveset and a good type combination. I've never beaten anyone in a Pokémon battle.

If the game has been totally successful up until today, and they've been using the same formula for years, then why change it? I'm pretty sure people managed pretty damn well before these changes.

i usually just keep a type table somewhere handy whenever i play pokemon anyway
guess i'm a filthy casual

you can catch xerneas and yveltal in x and y using just quick balls
now THAT'S what i call easy,,,
