Monster Hunter Generations is like if Dark Souls was all boss fights and didn't punish you for stuff that was out of your control that's probably a really stuffty comparison but whatever

Hyper Light Drifter is great if you're looking for a neat little pixel indie game. It took me 7 hours to complete a single playthrough, but I enjoyed it pretty much all the way through.

Before the Echo is Dance Dance Revolution adventure mode.

I've never played Splatoon personally but apparently the meta requires a lot of tech, even for basic movement. It is easily more complex than Counter Strike: Global Operations, and I like Counter Strike. Consider trying it

i love pixel stuff (when its done right) and this was one of the many few games i actually had on my mind for buying.

will consider it heavily

I just got rimworld and am really enjoying it. It's a cool colony management game, similar to dwarf fortress but a lot simpler to get into. Would recommend if you're into stuff like that.

Since you like pixel stuff try out CrossCode.

It's fun but it's early access so the story only goes up until the second dungeon lol.

Yeah, Splatoon does have a learning curve but I feel like the complexity isn't that much of a turn off. All the modes range in difficulty. Turf War's are probably the least complex and most fair game mode, but the learning curve isn't a huge amount of time to learn, DEFINITLEY not like Smash or Counter Strike.

And Monster Hunter is probably one of the most immersive resource hunting games I've ever played 10/10. But if he does consider Splatoon on Wii U I would choose Monster Hunter 3 Ultimate Wii U edition. The game practically turns into an MMO with the ability to create online lobby's and make rooms and hang with friends online and meet new people and chat. Sorry I'm rambling but my experiences with Monster Hunter are fantastic

i played crosscode before it was even on steam. it was an html5 browser demo and i've been following it since. i will definitely buy it but im waiting for it to get out of early access

i can only say what i dont like which is basically

(keep in mind this is what i dont like)
mobas - no doubt about it. i dont like them
mmorpgs - the ones that are really generic
sport games - just boring
strategy games - like civ or crusader kings, you know.
competitive games - i like playing them, but the fact that they show themselves as a 'competitive style' really drives me away from playing it. sutff like overwatch, csgo. one great example is rocket league. i love playing rocket league though, dont get me wrong.

i'd label more but i cant think of any ideas

the thing is, games really bring out some sort of cliche when it comes to certain aspects whether its gameplay, art, presentation. a lot of its the same and thats what i think drives me away from it. usually what i do is look for a game with banner art that really stands out. which is hilarious because its almost like half of the games on steam spent their budget on the banner art alone.

rimworld looks cool but i dont think its what im looking for

thanks for the suggestions guys im hoping people who are having the exact same problem as me find a solution here too. its just its only been like a couple months since ive been able to fund myself to actually get games and have something to run it on, but now that i have it theres nothing i want to play. i mean if i put sixteen year old me in my shoes i'd be stuffting myself playing so many games but im not like that anymore and i really dont want to drive myself from it ; (

Its a real nightmare to see what games you are talking about with the long lists, consider adding bolded answers next to the game inside the quote.
