How has nobody said Destiny RPG yet, that was amazing, and never hosted. Someone said they were going to do a remake of it, I forgot who, but they never finished it.
It was amazing, for a short period of time. The population would only last for a week, with the remaining tiny percentage arguing with each other over a reset. It scaled poorly and very slowly. Armor was absolutely ridiculous making the already impossible feat of using melee even more useless. As the armor only worked against melee. Ranged damage was written by another coder, who decided to make his own damage package for the ranged weapons, which completely ignores the already existing package for defense calculations. Earning said equipment was just as ridiculous, as it took several days of actual work, or a couple days botting, just so you can forget people over in the other nations. The runescape system works for runescape because of risk, population, and size of world. It does not work for what mess DRPG was.
The reason said remake never happened because anyone who's ever tried to make changes to DRPG realized it would be less effort to make a new RPG entirely, and even that is a lot of effort. The fact that 3 or 4 coders worked on it without any sort of organization shows if you look through the code. It's a mess. It lived a good life but it's time for it to die. It's one of the bigger projects BL's had, yeah, would be nice if someone would make something better.
Centhra's Dueling server is really fun and the user created maps along with the variety of basic weapons add on to the content but I forget if it is a gamemode or just a mod
It was a private gamemode. It died because the old community that wasn't bothered by downloading a client add-on had mysteriously vanished. Really. The server would hit a max of like, 8 people and at least 3 of them wouldn't want to download anything.
Then there's the ghosting issue. Back when it was hosted long ago, the arenas were loaded far enough away that other clients weren't affected by it at all. But something must've changed in Blockland's networking since then, because it now causes problems, and the selective ghosting dll didn't help. The bricks don't show up but yet it still causes the 'ghosting lag' whenever an arena loaded close enough.
