see thats a decent idea but we really dont need to make the DMV wait longer.

i would support some kind of widespead southern literacy test. except instead of being tribal it just asks simple political questions like "Who is the Democratic Nominee?" "Who is the Republican Nominee?" "Who is our standing President?" "Ted Cruz is running as a _____________."

We stopped kids under 18 from voting because they are stupid. We should also stop a 45 year old man from voting if he is really stupid.
"Stupid/illiterate people should not be able to vote in a country founded on freedom". Do you even hear yourself? You are this close to basically supporting eugenics you loving national socialist.

Every vote matters, from the autistic lgbt libtard in ny to the psychopathic church shooter in texas. putting any kind of restriction on voting besides citizenship is stupid and is prone to exploitation. plus, nobody has the power to say who gets to vote and who doesn't, as that's taking away rights and is subject to bias

the people will decide what they want, not the individual deciding what others want

also "people with mental conditions" is ridiculously vague

This severely stupid. All mental conditions? Are you insane? You would be segregating and dividing the population more than what it already is, creating a huge disaster of inequality as "mental superiors" become the new master race. A major reason that there was a lot of African American inequality and brutality is because they didn't have their right to vote. Basically, not being able to vote restricts you from many jobs, judge, jury, lawyer, police officer, etc. Basically what was happening is that African Americans were unable to be represented or judged by other African Americans. Study Martin Luther King Jr. or Huckleberry Finn is also a very good example.

However, that's just some social barriers and inequality that could arise from banning people with mental conditions from voting. Let's talk about the absurdity and vagueness of a "mental disorder". A mental disorder can go from anorexia and claustrophobia to narcolepsy. Basically you would removing the right to vote from a citizen who doesn't like tight spaces, or someone who has OCD.

If you haven't got my point, it's pretty dumb

IDK how well this would work in some senses. I have a feeling that it would allow people who are unable to send their children or themselves to school to learn literacy wouldn't be allowed to vote. I think it would kind of once again create a barrier of intelligence. Cutting those people off would stop them from potentially voting for a president that would allow them to receive education. I see what you're going with though.

Who defines it? It's really easy to find some excuse to label your political opponents mentally deficient for whatever reason. See: southern literacy tests.

This is one of the many reasons this is bad. The moment mental illness classification can be politically taken advantage of, it will be. Opponents of the people with the most power and the opponents of the people who have managed to most forget over the classifications in their favor will be labeled as "the mentally ill" and dismissed on that basis alone.

Why just Southern, we should do Western too

There's nothing about having a mental condition that makes you incapable of holding valid political beliefs. Lots of people are too stupid to understand the issues they're even voting on, but we don't deny them the right to vote.

Barring people with ADD and OCD from voting.

Half of the voters want to willingly part with their ability to vote, nice.

No one here would be allowed to vote
