I know someone personally who joined the AF for counter-cyber division work and ended up not even getting to serve because the background check took a year longer than what was told to him (4-5 months).

Chelsea Manning or whatever they are calling themselves got played, but duno if letting them go proves a point politically or not.

It's common for presidents to pardon a bunch of guys on their last day of office.

Manning is probably a more complicated case, so he most likely needed a head start in order to do it.

If Obama pardons Snowden as well, it will be one of the most positive highlights of his presidency.

The stuff manning released has nothing to do with surveillance on Americans
