Author Topic: Why did Badspot abandon blockland  (Read 8718 times)

He updated the forums just recently to fix an exploit related to temporary emails or something like that

The last update to the game was back in September, but i assume Badspot's got better things to do lately than tend to this 10+ year old game

Though, i am sill waiting for those needed updates we were told that could happen after the shadows and shaders update, or at least a hefty update that'll actually interest and drag in the new players from the Steam community

Even some links in the main menu or something that'll link to the BLF/Add-Ons board would be nice

the whole 'hat update' everyone is waiting on will never happen.

i thought the hat update was just a running gag

What a deadbeat dad.

like a god abandoning his created universe

so has badpsot abandoned us

it was supposed to be an actual thing but it just never happened since hatmod got released

I don't think the hat mod is why the hat update never happened, i'm sure Badspot is more than capable of adding in a custom accessories feature that could surpass the hat mod

He just hasn't

...For whatever reason

the game has peaked already. the only point in updating games is to earn new money from new customers.
there is a balance he has to decide on where...
size of update : effort/time : possible exposure earned : possible new income.

if he thinks no new money can be realistically made by X effort, then its not reasonable to waste time adding things. his skill cant be pulled from his new projects. currently he is a single father to 6 kids.

I can't really remember but Sumz told me once that he lost the files he used to create the accessories in the first place.

He babysits Badspot's kids

Are you talking about that picture of him surrounded by Asians? I don't think Badspot actually has 6 kids...

It's not the same, but can't he just import the models like any one else can? He can probably fix 'em back up to what he needs

It's better than nothing, right? If he'd be willing to do that at all, i mean

Blockland is a sandbox game geared towards users creating content. In it's current state, the only thing left to do is for Badspot to implement an external add-on system (using DLLs) in which users can create/install/run. All DLL-add-ons should have some sort of review system to ensure safe code. Besides that, it's fine where it's at and Badspot doesn't need to update this game anymore. I know I wouldn't...
