"Moral systems" being a proxy for race and politics. I've gotta disagree on that.
Actually, I meant the opposite.
Many people think the U.S. is "diverse" because it has people of different national origins and races, but I'd say it's not very diverse at all.
Read below:
i mean, yeah, you can,
No. And no offense but I don't think you'd really know. You probably live in a first world country where there's virtually no ideological diversity.
Everyone agrees on many things: separation of church and state is good, freedom of speech is good, human rights exist and should be respected, the welfare state is beneficial to some extent, there should be a separation between the legislative and executive branches of government, democracy with universal suffrage is good, infanticide is wrong, making laws ex post facto is wrong, you shouldn't invade other countries for any reason unless you're attacked first, etc.
If you had a fascist, a communist, a member of CIA, and an anarcho-capitalist, living together, much less people from different eras of human history, they'd never be able to get anything done.
nothing needs to be achieved. the only goal all people can agree on is happiness, and if people can find happiness by themselves and without taking away the abilities of others to find happiness, then you've already made the perfect state.
That's just it though. Plenty of people throughout history
rejected happiness in order to please their god, continue their race, expand their state, and do all sorts of things. If all we care about is "being happy" how are we any different than animals?
