oh my god why
this is such a massive waste of money
it's a solution that won't work to a problem that isn't really that major

if you want to prevent illegal immigration, make legal immigration easier
of course, Annoying Orange and his supporters won't do that because they don't actually want to stop undocumented immigrants, they want to stop people with darker skin from entering the country

tl;dr unless you're jesus or einstein, you pretty much can't enter the country legally unless you're lucky enough to have family
and even then, it can take decades

This is called "high standards"

We have them, because other wise we could have serious issues on our hands all the time. If you want an example of low standards, look at the BLF.

Yeah, like being broke because we spent all of our money on a wall

We could legit get to mars by 2020 if the wall money went to nasa. Shame he had to choose something so pointless.

This is one of the bigger failures in opportunity costs I've seen in a while.

The estimated price of the wall is $12 to $15 billion.

For perspective the US federal debt increased on average by ~$50 billion every month under Obama.

Yeah, like being broke because we spent all of our money on a wall
at least the wall won't be broken

why not a moat AND a wall
here's a better idea, why not just build a MALL along the entire border

historically, 12 billion dollars is a steep price for a government construction. the hoover dam, which was probably more useful than this wall will be, costed roughly $750 million in today's market. some historians even say the palace of versailles, the most expensive building in history which contained like a metric ton of silver if i remember correctly, could have costed less than 12 billion dollars.

granted the palace of versailles' cost is debated and the great wall of china, although way bigger and was built a long time ago and doesnt necessarily have a traceable cost in materials for the time, was way more expensive.

the point still stands that this is a hefty price that is not often considered for government structures.

That's extraordinarily generous. It's more likely to cost between 20 and 40 billion dollars, at least 50% of which is going to come straight out of taxpayer pockets in the best case scenario.

i dont understand what's so difficult to understand that mexico will pay for this???

if you actually believe the US can just make mexico pay for this you are legitimately handicapped

its like going on a date, pissing off your date, then going out and having a $100 meal and then asking your date to pay for it. nobody would say yes - there's no incentive for them to pay, and they dont even like you.

"but muh tariffs!"

white house is already shooting this stuff down faster than Annoying Orange can tweet. it's not happening

Why don't we just take Mexico and push it somewhere else?
