firealpaca (medibang paint pro)

*ETERNAL SCREAMING OF PAINT TOOL SAI HEARD IN THE DISTANCE*

sai has a free trial iirc and you can pick it up for like 45 usd. if you do use it take note of the following though because this forgeted me over and the only solution I could find at the time was "reformat your computer LOL"

image clickable, excuse the broken engrish the company is japanese. highly recommend sai

but hey, you can't go wrong with photoshop. it really is a jack of all trades lol

I would suggest photoshop if adobe's monthly subscription isn't an issue, that being OP has generous parents or is working

paint tool sai is great but for my money, clip studio is my favorite, although it's definitely more suited for sequential art.

I'll vouch for Krita, it has been my primary for quite the time now, and it's 100% free.

i use clip studio paint EX, but unless you want to use the EX comic features or more than 24 frames of animation, the pro version is definitely fine. pro Tip: it's way cheaper on amazon for some reason

before i got csp, i used firealpaca and that was sufficient, but krita is another free tool that seems worth looking at. i've also used creative cloud stuff like photoshop, illustrator, and flash, and obvs they're nice if you can shell out the bucks for it

Paint.net
tbh paint.net is better for photo editing than actual art.
it's missing a sensitivity brush for tablets; this was requested ages ago but the developers never got around to it

i'll start with krita for now because it looks nice and i'm not really willing to spend money right now

edit: i apparently have enough money on steam to buy it
ok

FireAlpaca's free as the air you breathe and is pretty nice so far. Steam version adds basically nothing.

No. Don't. Stop.
There is absolutely no difference between the website version and Steam version. No difference. Steam version is just a way to support the developers and having it attached to your Steam account along with measuring hours on it.
