NASA's Spitzer Space Telescope has revealed the first known system of seven Earth-size planets around a single star. Three of these planets are firmly located in the habitable zone, the area around the parent star where a rocky planet is most likely to have liquid water.

The discovery sets a new record for greatest number of habitable-zone planets found around a single star outside our solar system. All of these seven planets could have liquid water – key to life as we know it – under the right atmospheric conditions, but the chances are highest with the three in the habitable zone.

“This discovery could be a significant piece in the puzzle of finding habitable environments, places that are conducive to life,” said Thomas Zurbuchen, associate administrator of the agency’s Science Mission Directorate in Washington. “Answering the question ‘are we alone’ is a top science priority and finding so many planets like these for the first time in the habitable zone is a remarkable step forward toward that goal.”

They aren't earth-sized if they're spherical.

I don't think we realize just how loving awesome this is. There could be a star system as close as 40 light years away that has THREE planets with life on them.
Not just one. Not even two.

Three.

new land, that's great!

now lets TAKE IT OVER

Maybe life will continue on those planets when the world ends

If there are 7 habitable planets around the same loving star there is a good chance all 7 of those planets are colonized by another alien race.

aliens shmaliens we need to show those guys the power of FREEDOM

aliens shmaliens we need to show those guys the power of FREEDOM
seth america is not the entire planet

seth america is not the entire planet
ah see that's why we need to express our power of FREEDOM to the rest of the world first before we get into hyperspace travel

WE NEED TO BUILD AN INTERGALACTIC WALL

aliens shmaliens we need to show those guys the power of FREEDOM
no we need to show them the power of THE HARVEST

Only 40 light years away! Even if we can only reach light speed, it's still a feasible travel location!

Unification wars for the emprah?
