Author Topic: (VCE question) How to make varlinks work in Center/Bottomprint chat?  (Read 1162 times)

/title

Im currently having an issue where I can't click on varlinks that are in centerprint or bottomprint text, but it works in chat text. However, I know that you can click on regular links in Centerprint and Bottomprint text, as Skill4Life mentions here.

So what am I doing wrong here?

you cant put links in the centerprint/bottomprint text. it will show up with the correct formatting but it is unclickable

nowhere in that post it says you can do that either. its just a listing of torque markup language tags you can use to change the settings on text shown.

Why can't you click links in bottom/centerprint text though

I'm guessing the answer is because that's how the game works
center/bottom print is designed for temporary messages, so a link wouldn't be user friendly as the link would most likely be gone by the time you've unlocked the cursor and attempted to click it

The reason you can't click on links in the center/bottom print is because the GuiMLTextCtrl element that contains the text is on the PlayGUI. While you're on a server the GUI that is on top is actually the chat GUI. Any buttons that you want to be able to click or HUDs for servers should be added to the newChatGUI if you want them clickable with the mouse.

I believe this is also the reason you can't click on links when the net graph gui is open, it just puts itself on top of the chat.
