SPESS! What is it?
A big thing outside you can explore, but that's not important right now.
SS13 is a multiplayer only top-down roleplaying game set on a space station ran by competent (homicidal) responsible (psychotic) crew (maniacs). It's highly in-depth, features an experienced playerbase, and lets you do just about anything you can think of.

This game is the living embodiment of hell and i enjoy its existence

one of my favourites, regardless of what server you play you'll always have a story to tell after a good round

i play this a lot!!!!!

im on goon, paradise, and tg. you can find me as Max Holloway usually.

the last time i played space station 13 i was playing on a furry server
got vored and turned into breast milk
:(

Play Goonstation.

tg station's lavaland is the most fun i've had in this game
exploration and constant npc combat is great.
plus the ways to get back in the game by random structures is amazing

i'm the pink one, the two other podmen killed an ash drake with tomatos, breathing by eating sulbatomol apples and healing with ambrosia vulgaris.
we were mining with combustible lemons
we released a plague of gatfruit (fruit that can be turned into fully loaded revolvers) on the station, resulting in the station being able to defend against the aliens

this game is loving godlike and everyone should play it

There's only like 3 types of servers:
Snowflake
Laggy af
Confusing and just overall dumb mechanics/playerbase

ok so i joined goonstation for the first time and this game already has me
im a snail floating through space while the entire server is listening to mashups

welcum to spess tetion 13, but in all seriousness, goon station is probably the best station if your coming here for the humor

I couldn't find anyone when I played this, next day my computer mysteriously broke and I haven't played it since

i don't really like goon after giving it a shot, hippiestation was ok before hippie transferred ownership, colonial marines is meh unless you love the alien roundtype, tgstation's changing station each round is confusing if you're a new player or are used to playing single station servers.
which server you play on really depends on your playstyle or what you've been playing the most; the jump from the tg codebase to goon is a pretty large jump for few.

I'll go ahead and leave some insight on servers that I've played.

Colonial Marines
Server features marine-versus-xeno combat with a major xeno bias and is known for the amount of drama that it has spurred over their closed source licensing being illegal due to the means of acquisition.
Yogstation
A poorly managed server. Should be fine to play there for a bit, though the 'mins are banhappy.
Baystation
Poorly managed military high-roleplay. Most rounds consist of "lolol antag" and then "GENERAL QUARTERS" and then dead antagonists.
/tg/station
Interesting to say the least. One of the OGs. It's usually pretty fast-paced.
Goonstation
  Fast-paced as well. Pretty nice.
Polaris
Baystation fork. Known for snowflakes and less-than-prideful content.
Fallout 13
Too many servers to dictate specifically, but this exists.
Hippiestation
JamieH, the new owner, is an alright guy though there's a lot of drama regarding his management of Hippie. The murderboning has been quelled by the new host, so far, so it might be good to get bearings on.
Aurorastation
High roleplay with an emphasis on poorly planned events. Used to be the circle of drama after another server, Unbound Travels (revived from another server that was a drama-starter) was shut down.

It's all in all a fun game, but it depends on where you decide to play. It's advised to find a codebase you're interested in, read the wiki, download the server files and compile them, and then actually play around with it a bit before going live.

I just wish colonial marines would up the movement rate. It's too slow for me after playing years of Goon and /tg/.
