youre expected to keep it professional in a business environment. being tribal, loveist ect. isnt professional, so yes

Yea exactly this is a no brainer. If you're disrespectful to customers and/or coworkers regardless of race love and/or orentation you're going to get fired

Master Autist, you've made a lot of dumb threads, but this has to take the cake. This really isn't a debate. You can dislike people, but disrespect in the workplace is not acceptable regardless of situation. I don't know if it can be more cut and dry than that

Chances are by telling your boss you would get your pay lowered or fired on the spot, especially in the very far left states.
That definitely wouldnt happen...

you should only be fired if you're outright doing it during your job

Lol, if only reality worked this way.

what the forget are you talking about lmao

The problem is that if you express your disrespectful opinions outside the job, the chances are some people are going to know you work at that location, and it will still reflect really badly on the business. All it takes is one person to report their posts to the business and then it becomes an issue

Employee relationships can also get you fired, even though they may take place outside of the business. Anything unprofessional that has any link to your business should be taken out immediately

You use the term "Far left" in order to try to bring politics to a non politics discussion, stop.
Even in the "far left" states if you handle the situation calmly and report the situation to your boss you will suffer no repercussions. Its when you respond back to the customer with insults that you get in trouble. Its the same for your "Far right" states.

EDIT: And he swapped the poll? This is just sad

yea if you want a perfect example of what path is saying look at donald sterling

you may not like people, but respecting them is a whole different manner

why? if you work for a company, youre representing that company. if an apple employee posts "i hate spicks" on their facebook page, by not acting on it apple is showing theyre ok with the comment "i hate spicks" being associated with their company. in this instance the employee might just be reprimanded/ordered to take it down, but you get the idea

free speech but i still think the person having the job is a rooster regardless - they should be able to keep their job knowing that several people will probably think that they're a rooster

Yeah its even in the terms when you join a job nowadays, you are a representation of the company even online.

Well considering I live in one of the "far left" states and have had all kinds of jobs it basically comes down to this

I keep my personal beliefs to myself and away from my work. When I'm at work I'm there to do a specific job. If I'm not doing my job properly, I know that I can be fired.

As an employee, you basically learn to be a customer punching bag. You will ALWAYS, ALWAYS have customers who bitch at you, are rude to you, swear at you, etc. The best thing to do is keep your loving mouth shut and either continue trying to assist them or direct them to your higher up boss.

The only time you should act differently is if you're being physically assaulted. Even if you went to your employer about a customer verbally harassing you or demeaning you, chances are they'll come out and speak to the customer themselves or call the police depending on the situation. They aren't going to lower your pay or fire you, that is the dumbest stuff.

i don't think this hypothetical example ever blows over to real life
if an apple employee posts "i hate spicks" 99% of the time people are usually not going to come to the conclusion that their company supports racism and is the face of the entire company
people aren't going to stop buying whatever product or react negatively towards the company because some dumbass doesn't like mexicans
the only people who do that are the hyper-sensitive people and the people running the company, who think that their brand will be affected by even the slightest bit of negativity
i can guarantee you that the average person doesn't give a forget

god damn every time a generation x or baby boomer walks in i'm legit ready to call my manager the moment they speak. with millennials its always smooth and quick and they don't cause trouble but with gen x its always "um excuse me"

there are some pretty annoying ass people that walk in but i have to earn this paycheck
