I've shot a shotgun without ear protection or shoulder protection. Never hurt myself, nor had the ringing.
It can take 3 weeks for the ringing to go away, so you shouldn't worry about it too much. For the record, you have most likely permanently damaged your hearing. Hearing damage can occur at 85 db, and an average 12 gauge round can be around 156 db. One blast isn't going to deafen you, but it adds up, so be more careful in the future.
I shot it about 40 times, but like I said its back to the usual hearing volume and its just a slight ring when its extreamly quiet
welcome to the tinnitus club, im pretty sure everyone has it to some degreeits only noticeable if you're thinking about it, kind of like blinking and breathing
This is the same as doing a science experiment without the protection and then posting a thread that your eyes hurt like hell
I shot it about 40 times
do you know how loving much i want true silence and will never get itlike i get pissed thinking about the fact that my tinnitus will never let me hear it (nothing)
What are you talking about?
usually people naturally fill in silence with some form of white noise when it's not there naturally. not chronocally like tinnitus but its a relatively common phenomenon
A good example is how I refuse to sleep at night without a fan running, even if I don't need it to cool off.
I always have my cieling fan on. it gets too hot if it's off first of alldon't think noise is really a concern though. if I can't hear cars I can hear bugs or the wind
