Terrain goes a long way in making a build look nice.
Yea, terrain does make a build look nice. It's a shame most builds you see now don't use any terrain or changes in elevation. Cities are built on flat ground, Castles and Bases on flat ground. I wonder why it's like that now...
Your build quality definitely wouldn't go up if you suddenly ported it onto an old version of the game
Not sure what this means. Your build quality wouldn't go down if you ported to an old version of the game, either. The bricks you use are the bricks you use regardless. But ok.
Yes I can. My building quality has absolutely no bearing on weather or not maps looked like stuff. That's faulty thinking
If that came off as "you're not a chef so you can't complain the food is bad," my fault, that wasn't what I was trying to say. What I meant by that is, you can consider terrain to be stuff, but it will be very easy to consider something made in 20 minutes using modter to also look like stuff. Guess my point was you can say something is bad, but the alternative you give us is also bad.
Everything you're arguing about here is your own personal preference. Your personal preference isn't the entire community of 217,000 people.
I don't really think so, but, the same can be said for you?
They also made Blockland look like a port from the 90s with absolutely no marketability
This looks disgusting
While a modter map like Wake Island fits the style much better.
People don't want to buy or play a game that looks like stuff and takes away from the main focus- building.
Maps were the easiest excuse in the book to not build anything.
Maps also give zero incentive to learn how to build without a prepackaged stufffest to fall back on.
They don't even slightly fit the style that Badspot's going for.
No new incoming players want to see
They want to see a game that looks like it was made last year, not last decade
The maps board was just oozing with quality 24/7 the likes of which noone will ever see again
But ok, let's give actual facts and not just opinions. Terrain was better due to its:
-Terrain collision.
-Allowed for double even triple the current draw distance.
-Infinitely large maps
-Actual boards dedicated to sharing maps. You do not have .bls boards or any system to share them.
-Was faster to make a large environment with.
-Brickcount of
0What do you have against it? It looks bad?
There are plenty of people here who love the idea of starting out with just a ground plate and building something from it
And there are plenty that prefer to start their builds with the actual build and not have to start with terrain.
I have no problem with modter. It's still the thing I build with most, I like to terrain. But you can't say that modter is at all a fair trade for terrains. In quality, maybe, depends on the builder, but in my experience, more often than not it is of lesser quality than of terrain maps. However, not in brick count. Not in performance. Not in plain simplicity.
