Comcast is much worse as a company in terms of its collateral damage/ripping off consumers than United is.
Airlines have to deal with the cost of fuel, aircraft maintenance, paying employees, etc. The fuel is by far the most expensive and is the main thing that determines the ticket costs.
It's an extremely competitive business for airlines too, since customers will simply use another airline, so they want to keep their ticket costs low to get customers to use their airline over others. In other words, if they artificially jack their prices up and rip off consumers, their business will collapse.
It's polar opposite for internet companies. They are most of the time enjoying the ghastly fruits of being a natural monopoly. They are 95% of the time the sole provider of internet service to any given area (one company for one area), which means there is virtually no competition. Their expenses are far different from airlines as they are not paying millions to refuel airliners or maintain a huge fleet of jets. They simply have to maintain their internet/cable lines (doesn't cost much), troubleshoot customer's internet setups in their homes, and pay their employees. Since they have little competition, they can charge people an arm and a leg for substandard service and oftentimes the customer has no choice. Internet Service Providing is probably the most corrupt business industry in the nation.
