Author Topic: Modding cities skylines  (Read 2603 times)

as a final for prototyping class i need to mod a game and document it.
what game would fit best for this? i prefer working on characters in 3D or 2D, but im also comfortable with making weapon skins because of my payday 2 modding experience.
does anyone know of a game that's not difficult to mod? bonus points if i can mod a character.
please no bethesda games.

if nothing comes of this ill prolly just make a csgo weapon skin

You could mod Starbound, Half Life 2/TF2/L4D2 (same engine), Don't Starve and some other games I don't mention because they aren't easy.

does anyone know of a game that's not difficult to mod?

Does it have to be a well known title or can it be Blockland? Out of any game I've ever played Blockland is by far the easiest to make content for

I can give personal help with any LEGO game, Jurassic Park: Operation Genesis, Halo PC, Halo 2 Vista, Freespace 2, any Source game, Grand Theft Auto IV and V, Elder Scrolls Skyirm, Fallout 3 through to 4, Flight Simulator X, Knights of the Old Republic II and a couple others. Blockland might be a good choice too, but I'm not so good with that

I personally recommend the LEGO games because they're almost all so loving easy. There's a couple we're locked out of, but it's not long left.

You could make a wad/pk3 for a doom source port

If you want to use 3d models then using gzdoom is preferable but the animations have to be baked in since it's frame based.

Half Life 2/TF2/L4D2

as long as you understand either modelling with blender, texturing, or placing basic sounds into a folder with a different name this is the easiest option

i work in maya, i dont think thatll be much of a problem though

it doesnt have to be a well known title, but Blockland's arty style is too simple for the final.

LEGO does sound really fun, is it possible to create your own characters in this? Maybe even your own maps or anything?

these three games were showcased when the final was given to us, so around that level is what is expected. I might think about Starbound or Stardew.

mmh i feel like this gets a bit too technical for me, the griddy style of Doom also wouldnt fit with my own style (very cartoony)

stardew valley is loving easy to mod if youre just making sprite changes

Unreal tournament 2004 is a good option as it allows you to create a character along with it's own voice pack

make some sick minecraft skins

nothing can beat my walking supreme bogo skin
