Lights on Non-Rendered Bricks

I would like a way to place lights on non rendered bricks.

Sorry for the briefness, but its a pretty straight forward concept.
Can this be done?

Last I checked, you can mimic this with paint that is 100% transparent

except with new shaders a very transparent top texture will appear

this could be achieved by creating a new light not attached to the brick that just gets removed with the brick

not if you spray pearl fx on it. in fact doing so shows the brick outline (when holding a tool)

it could, but you'd also have to make sure that it works on load as well

I'm trying to specifically make a fire place, but the placement of the "lightsource" brick cuts through the emitter letting you see the edges of the brick.
It doesn't look too great and I cant think of a better alternative.

not when the brick color is 0 0 0 0 instead of 255 255 255 0 like it is in most packs

HUH NEAT

you could make it work with the normal light system except if the brick is not rendered it will create a non attached light
