This is just semantics done to try and make it seem like there is a 'Better way to handle it' when in reality you're doing the same thing, with
weaker results, because you're trying to cushion the blow because you don't want seem "tribal to religion'.

forget Islam. I hate it. It's oppressive to women and homoloveuals and promotes ideological superiority. But we're a nation of freedom. Muslims are free to practice their stuff religion. What they aren't free to do is go around raping people and practicing FGM and all the other stuff that goes on in Islamist countries, and that's because we have laws in place against that kind of stuff. That was my point. We don't need to ban stuffty religions because the stuffty practices in those religions are already outlawed. Religious freedom laws do not protect anyone from doing illegal stuff.
