Author Topic: [NEWS] FCC votes to overturn net neutrality rules, tl;dr bye internet freedom  (Read 8360 times)

Someone should be gathering people up too sue comcast's asses off.
This is almost certainly illegal.

yes. they call that "fraud."

this is hella interesting. but for ISP's to actually profit off this, wouldn't every ISP have to regulate and charge for "premium" data rates? or will this essentially turn into how celluar providers provide their data rates? also interesting because some ISP's are the ONLY provider in a lot of areas

ISPs in the US already do a "Rule of Two" in each area to basically evade the "Anti-Monopoly' laws, but they give you an ultimatum.
Either Pay cheaply for stuff internet or pay out the ass for decent internet.

They're already profiting off it. Multiple ISPs have been forcing big content providers (Including Netflix and League of Legends) to pay extreme yearly fees in order to not have their content throttled.

Details on the League of Legends throttling here: http://www.gamasutra.com/view/news/291284/New_York_sues_Time_Warner_over_throttled_League_of_Legends_speeds.php
And the actual legal document that details everything Time Warner in specific has done in the form of a New York State v. Time Warner lawsuit: https://ag.ny.gov/sites/default/files/summons_and_complaint.pdf

thankfully not my family

Just so you guys know, you can use this website here:
https://www.comcastroturf.com/

To check much easier than entering it in the search. This may have been posted elsewhere but Comcast is actually trying to censor this website via cease and desist from a paid representative of theirs.

Not in there thank forget

not in there either

I brought it up to my mother who's a lawyer (and a registered Democrat) and she says that it's probably something the clients agreed to in the terms of service so they can't really do anything about it

it's absolutely scummy but not prosecutable
