just pokin at ahoy but for the sake of discussion: its difficult to pinpoint the line between furry or the standard animal people, does liking the Animal Crossing characters make someone a furry? lola is obviously kind of loveualised so its only fair to go "ey that's pretty good" but I don't think anyone would call themselves a furry just for that alone, furries have artists they like, their own OC designs etc.

im not sure. but its definitely a lot more than just one pop culture character being hot. so I guess calling yourself a furry is what makes someone one because at that point they'd be sure of themselves that its what they're into.
