It's an old FPS and horror game. Now you've played games like DOOM and Duke Nukem but this kind of takes FPS games to another level.

It has a more detailed inventory system, where you can combine items and stuff. It has live action cutscenes. It has 3d modeled items when you check them out in detail view. Normally games have 2D pixel sprites for the inventory and leave it at that.

The character is fully voiced and makes comments about the items you collect and such.

Shooting is really cool because you can move your hand from up, down and side to side. Just like in real life, even modern shooters don't do this unless it were VR shooters.

Also live action reloading is in the game. It's not an animated sprite sheet. It's an actual live action animation.

Very cool and innovative for it's time as an fps adventure/puzzle game. But I've never really enjoyed old fps titles like this because they age so bad and want to force the fps genre in a time that wasn't built for it. I rather refer to more aesthetic titles such as Grim Fandango.

Can you really tell that these two games are only 2 years apart? No, because Grim Fandango was smart. They didn't use a format that they couldn't master and thus became timeless.

Don't mean to jack the thread, just wanted to address innovation in the gaming industry.

grim fandango is amazing - viva la revolucion

This isn't about Grim loving fandango though.

Have you ever seen such detail in an old 1990s game?

Rhetorical question and I only meant in relation to this game.  :iceCream:

Wow, this looks neat. I should really pick up Grim Fandango sometime.
