could it just be that my thermal paste or whatever ran out or whatever

sounds like overheating
no it just sounds like a defective fan

OP if you want to have your computer not potentially die due to overheating you should stop using it until you get proper cooling (or use it less)
you could also install programs which tell you your computer temperatures

this is my only functioning computer in the house so I have to use it in order to figure out what to buy for it

on that note would it be possible to get will's radical forgetin' water pipe thingy and how much better would that be than what I have now

it's changed from a chugging noise to a revving noise is that noteworthy
How many RPMs does it reach before the redline

How many RPMs does it reach before the redline

what

this thing is so inconsistent, it's literally making no noise right now and I'm running ROBLOX
there's a frame rate dip but nowhere near 5-10 FPS scratch that there's no frame rate dip at all

If it's your first time, don't get it. Plus it costs more than 159 iirc for a full kit

how would I know that either of the fans you suggested will fit

so this is the cooling unit I'm thinking about

is the thing going to fit in my system or not

can I get an answer please

regardless of what tower I have?

regardless of what tower I have?
No, but due to you saying it's a tower, is pretty good implication that it will fit.

If you want to play it safe, then go with this https://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16835106250

How old is this loving computer
