Author Topic: national lgbtq+ month (again)  (Read 31718 times)

We accepted who we are long ago, it's everyone else we're waiting on.
Special interest groups (such as religious groups) are still fighting against legal rights
Lots of people still have to worry about losing their jobs if their employers learn their loveuality, because loveual orientation is not a protected class in many states
Lots of kids in conservative families still worry about being disowned if their parents learn their loveualities: about 40% of all homeless youth are LGBT

Society still has a ways to go. But hey, it's not illegal anymore, so we're all good, right? No, that's stupid reasoning.

Also the fact that you're posting things like this tells me your not "perfectly fine with it"
I don't care if you're a dude who wants to forget a dude, why should I? Just because I don't agree with you doesn't mean I hate you. How would you feel if instead of this it was straight pride month?  Instead of having parades in places where there is no problems for lgbt people they should be going to the state capitols of these states and protesting.

loveuality is supposed to be something you keep to yourself like your finances because it's a taboo subject

you're literally talking about who you forget, no one wants to know that

oh ok i guess they can just ignore the problems with differing loveual orientation all around the world cus ur ok with it

say this is surprisingly relevant again
congratulations you're an ignorant starfish

there are still many problems with loveism all over the world!
just replace loveism with loveual orientation and there u have it!!

What makes you think countries who hate the US are gonna care what we do?

Name one way American men are better off than American women
What makes you think countries who hate the US are gonna care what we do?
i'm noticing a pattern here....

that's not my point and there are also problems in the US itself anyways

I don't care if you're a dude who wants to forget a dude, why should I?
If you don't care, then why are you spending so much time here...well...caring?
If you don't care, then you don't participate.
All you're doing is working yourself up over something you could easily just not pay attention to.
Like legit, I didn't even realize it was pride month until a week or so into June, and I only realized because I heard someone whining about it

places where there is no problems for lgbt people
Please do tell me where to find this magical place you speak of

Orientation is about more than who you have love with, it's also about who you form romantic relationships with.
No, private bedroom activities shouldn't be shared in public, you're right about that. But that applies regardless of the couple's genders, not just same love couples.
Inversely, if it's not taboo for a man and a woman to hold hands in public, then it shouldn't be taboo for two men or two women to do so.

We live in an era where I can post something and an acquaintance or even a stranger from across the world can see it instantly, if that's how I choose to share my info. Hell, I'm posting this and you'll be able to see it. The more people are supporting or accepting of us here in the US, the more people show up to Pride here and spread the message that love is love and nothing will change that, the more that closeted people across the world will have the courage to stand up for themselves and allies will have the courage to stand up for others. Because they see that, in progressive society, people are accepting. So, yes, our actions have an impact. I don't know how many people in this thread remember much about the It Gets Better Project, but it's a big reason I was comfortable enough to come out. So yes, even videos on the internet of random people you don't know have an impact on your thinking. Now imagine seeing a video of thousands of people being supportive and you have the reason Pride exists.

I'm a gay man. I don't flaunt it. If you interacted with me at a surface level on the street you'd think I'm straight as an arrow. But pride is still important for reasons beyond the way it manifests itself in US society. I'm actually pretty disappointed at how much it's turned into a party for straight people to show up and flaunt their ally status in certain cities across the US, but that's beyond the point. It's still a show of support for an under-represented community.

Also, forget you for saying we might as well should just protest at the state capitol. For one thing, that's hardly effective; protests are more effective when there's a lot of people around to witness and/or join in, and if you seriously think a bunch of people should show up to Albany instead of marching through NYC to get a message across, you're probably not that bright. But also, you and I both know that if we were protesting at state capitols, you would be in this thread saying, "shut up no one cares about your protest just live with your loveuality and move on." There would still be a Pride month to help organizing those protests, and you'd still be butthurt about it, so don't try to take the high road there.

loveuality is supposed to be something you keep to yourself like your finances because it's a taboo subject

why is finances a taboo subject

who told you this

it think it's more along the lines of telling people how much you make/spend etc.

why did you bump this

forget you moltenkitten

torin more like borin because you are boring me.... sorry had to get it off my chest no offence

it think it's more along the lines of telling people how much you make/spend etc.

this is perpetuated by dumbass old people who come from a time when life and money was easier, you should discuss finances with people all the time

90% of all the conversations I have with my friends always ends up being about finances, saving plans, future prospects and income comparisons
