Author Topic: Rust Poll: How Often Do You Play?  (Read 2323 times)

I'm thinking of getting my own Rust server to host but I wanted to set it up to only be online during the evenings. I hate having to compete with little kids and neets who play 24/7 just to get offline raided because I have an actual job. The server would be in the US so sorry everybody else (why would you be playing on an US server anyways if you don't live there is beyond me). On the weekends it would be open all day. I would really appreciate it if anyone who plays Rust to give your answer on this poll: http://www.strawpoll.me/13224953

It's a trash game.

It's a trash game.
with 90% of the playerbase being complete cunts

i guess the game just rusted since it came out

Well that's great and all that you guys think that, but I would like to know what people think that enjoy the game a bit. I enjoy it myself but just don't have the time for 24/7 servers. I want to know if there's people out there like me who work but want to be able to enjoy this game as well.

It'd be a fun game to play with a group, but public servers are hell. I'd be down.

I don't because it has a memory leak the size of Hulk Hogan

I uninstalled it because the game was heading in the direction of being Minecraft Factions, but far worse, with gameplay centering around grinding and griefing other players. I suppose that's fun if you're the one doing the base-raiding, but inevitably you always get your stuff kicked in. Same problem as Conan Exiles, ARK, Reign of Kings, etc.

My main complaint about the game is the kill on sight mentality almost everyone has. I wish people would put more effort into being friendly with neighbors and people lowered geared than them. I don't mind getting raided as much because that's part of the core game, but when you are afraid to go outside just to collect resources is when the game becomes a problem. Essentially the player base the server aims to cater towards would be working people with time off in the afternoon, not to kids or anybody without a job (literally a mature audience). Hopefully these people playing would then value their time more and not kill everybody they see so often because they might die and lose progress in what little time they have. Now I don't want it to be some strict role-play server because those aren't fun you don't have any freedom to do whatever. I want players to "make the rules." All of this is probably impossible because we're all autistic mongoloids deep down but it's worth a shot.

my only complaint about the game is the loading time. I paid 20 bucks for this stuffty game and it takes forever just to start up the game. can you host so I can have something to look forward to when I click 'play'?

I had to put it on my SSD because the load times were so bad. It really did help, though. Only takes a minute or so.

on this note, I'd much prefer a Minecraft Factions server and would be willing to play on it this time for funsies. :P

I just have a basic 7200rpm hard drive and the load times aren't terrible for me. You only have to load the game assets once now whenever you join a server, so if you switch servers or get disconnected joining again is fast. It does take a bit at first for the game to start up but I think people are blowing it out of proportion how long it takes (SSDs do help tremendously like Nonnel said).

Minecraft Factions was fun for me because there were a multitude of ways to raid bases other than simply farming C4. My group would also build these absolutely extravagant bases with the best security and everything.

I don't think rust is worth playing because the game took a complete 180 and turned into something abysmal. Anything "survival" esque today just has to be competitive today.
