Author Topic: so i hijacked a school laptop and made it dualboot windows 7  (Read 2534 times)

our school is really touchy when it comes to blocking things, to the point of uptight. i was able to keep my school laptop over the summer, figuring i could just play games on my USB drive and such. however, discovering the fact they were blocking websites on my own network out of school was when i got a little bit pissed off. so, i made a plan to get my own access without any horrible restrictions.

first step: getting admin/using opened gates (PXE boot)
admin was absolutely locked. you were able to open things like task manager and CMD but you had zero chance of opening anything with escalated permissions. so, i attempted to boot into USB. however, they had locked that out as well. what i did notice however, was that network PXE boot was available to use in the boot menu.

for those of you who don't know what network PXE boot is, it allows a server to host a bootable image for a client to use. realizing the possibilities, i downloaded AOMEI's free PXE boot tool, loaded up my copy of kon-boot onto it and hooked up my laptop to my computer (which already had an active network bridge to my other computer). i booted the laptop into network PXE boot, and some minutes later, i saw the kon-boot logo (very slowly) scroll across the screen. couple seconds later and i booted into windows 10.

at this point, i checked to see if stickykeys opened up command prompt like it should after i was able to get to the windows logon screen. thankfully, it did, and i made a new user account and added it to the administrators group.

so now i had admin. but i couldn't just simply remove the blocker (contentkeeper), they'd notice that and some network conflicts would probably occur. so i had to go a different route.

second and final step: dual-booting windows 7
since the default OS was basically useless for anything involving the internet, i had to make an area where there never was blockage, that being an OS of my choosing. i didn't feel like using linux since i wanted to use it for games and other windows applications, so i got my copy of windows 7 ultimate off the shelf, and ripped it to my PC. then, on the laptop, i shrunk down the windows 10 partition and made a new 60something GB one for windows 7. i tried to install windows 7 by just using a iso version of my install disc, but quick research and tests proved that AOMEI's PXE tool wasn't gonna work, so i had to do a bit more manual labor.

downloaded something called serva, which is basically another PXE tool, albeit a bit more complicated with settings and directories. followed a pretty basic guide online and i was able to get stuff working...almost. the router we have here was somehow forgeted and it wasn't letting the laptop respond to any DHCP offers. i was about to give up, but then i realized that my phone had a hotspot. it was my only hope.

connecting my main PC to the hotspot, i resetup serva and attempted to do another PXE boot. lo and behold, moments later, the serva boot menu appeared on the laptop. pressed ENTER, and like 5 minutes later i was installing windows 7 on a new partition. about an hour later, i downloaded some drivers, installed some basic necessities (waterfox, foobar2k, freecommander, notepad2, steam) and i was ready to go. the internet wasn't blocked, i was happy, and that's why i'm making this post on this laptop at 4:07AM EDT

so anyways how's your day/night/whatever been, AMA about stuff related to this i guess

fake its summer................

wow

you certainly loving earned that

your school gives everyone their own personal laptops? wtf do you have to pay or something?

It's cool but not as cool as finding the actual bios password. With that you can bypass the USB boot lock and not risk them taking your laptop and finding all kinds of modified crap on your hard drive. Lucky for us they had 3.0 ports so it wasn't actually terrible to run an operating system off a flash drive.

The way I got it was the same way, through pxe boot. They use the network boot to quickly "flash" and configure windows onto machines so they can just hook a bunch up and press the go button. What I noticed over the years is that they used to have no bios password on computers then they added one. So I figured it was part of this imaging process and they had a utility to auto config the bios.

The imaging is done through MDT and the binary they used over network boot was pxe linux which booted Lite touch. They had a password on the network boot prompt but since it's all done over tftp it was as easy as grabbing the config file from the pxe linux directory and cracking the hash over night. (You could also just reverse the binary and bypass the password check but it was 7 characters long so I didn't bother)

It would show you it was downloading Lite touch through a directory after that. So I used tftp once again to grab that image and opened it, inside was a config file which contained username and password to an elevated account that could download the rest of the garbage from the imaging servers and finish the job. I used samba on the imaging servers ip and inside there you could find the bios config utility. Right next to it was the config for that which contained the password. Sweet!

And from there you could do more interesting things like finding the domain controller password/domain admin. What's cool about my school laptops is they have all kinds of ports open that the admins use to control and monitor students. Have the domain admin? You're essentially a school administrator and have full access to peoples hdd.. yeah not so secure. Of course I kept this privilege to small pranks on my friends. No way was I about to get expelled for that crap lol.

And I like your ambition. It's fun to do this hacky crap, so never stop learning.

Our school had us pay a rental fee but they're decent laptops I can't complain.

yea what tf kind of richass school has enough money for that, with or without rent

when i was in school they actually stole our laptops from our homes

what kind of school gives free laptops to students

I wanna know how common this is actually because a few people on here say they have school supplied laptops

one time i actually hacked the school's wifi from my school computer. i could see everyone's connected computers, their history, passwords, and information and I changed my grades to straight A's and then I put hentain on the projector in my class and then I made the PA system say "(my school) is gay" and then everyone started clapping and then my dad gave me a hundred dollars

are you ferris bueler's best friend

yeah, it is. i actually got the IP of the school jock (he's tall, blonde, short hair, plays football and his name's chad and he bullies me) and I put gay research on his computer, making his homophobic dad believe it and he killed himself from the disappointment and murdered his wife and their 2 year old daughter

there was an extensive investigation but they couldn't find me cause I had 7 proxies

hackerman please restrain yourself; you're using your hacking power for evil
